Earlier models had subpar brackets, later models had the new brackets...

Yup and the new brackets don't help because when the bumper sags it bend the tabs on the soft bumper. When that happens no new clip will help you need to replace the bumper.

Will replacing the bumper cover fix it 100%? Mine has 2 clips popping out and I've replaced the bracket under the headlight and the rear bracket. I don't want to replace the bumper cover unless I have to.

The new TSB brackets have also been proven to fail. There are also reports of people who have never removed their bumpers ending up with the gap.

For those of you who removed your bumpers and were able to put it back in without the gap - count your lucky stars.

I also tried the speaker wire deal and it worked for a few days but then ended popping out. At this point I'm just leaving it alone until I do something more drastic, like the quick latches or something.

Yeah Subaru couldn't even fix the gap, even with new brackets it still pops out.

Went their today, they swapped brackets and fucked with it for two hours and couldn't get it to close. Drove home and now it's worst than beore

Well that fucking sucks. Is it like @Dipstik-sportech said - the tabs on the bumper itself are too weak?

I believe the bumper is just too soft. I am intrigued by the down force idea causing it

i whole heartedly believe it is a failure on the side of the bumper and not the tabs. the slots are just too weak and flimsy and teh downforce of driving home from the dealership popped them out again

I leave for work @4:45 am and have a 45 minute drive. You may not have noticed but the headlights on the FR-S are the worst headlights since the late 70's. Plus I live in the woods son!

You're right I didn't notice. I've had silverstar ultras in mine since day 3. I don't think I ever even turned the stock bulbs on...

Then you're doing alright. Don't hit anything bigger than that cat though. A dog could end up in your lap...
