San Deigo SCCA Autocross Practice

I went to the practice on 8/9/2014 down in San Diego and loved it!
It was my first time autocross or any form of track and was very open to suggestions. Here is one of my first runs! Feedback appeciated

Looks good! I'm relatively new to the sport, started this year, but just a few things I noticed from a noob perspective:

- Your hands shuffled a lot. Good rule of thumb from what I've been told, is to keep your hands at 9 and 3 as much as possible.
- Couldn't tell for sure, but it didn't look like you were looking ahead enough. You want to use your side windows to look ahead even, to make sure you are fully prepared for the next element.
- Around the 30 second mark, I would've personally taken that wide on entry. Looks like you lost a considerable amount of speed and pinched yourself off there coming in, and cooked the tires trying to make up speed on exit.

What have you done to the car so far, and what do you plan on doing? I work out in Thousand Oaks, I live in the AV area, but you should come out to the Irvine AutoX event this weekend! Practice is full already, I won't be going, but on Sunday I'll be running.

Thanks for the tips! I've heard of people saying 9 and 3. Wasn't sure if the roof was 12 o'clock or the center of the steering wheel was! Later in the day I fixed my entry on that corner.

I definitely need to look ahead more, that is a fact. I was always focused on what was directly ahead of me.

My car is 100% stock. I have an Invidia N1 but am just running a muffler delete currently. I plan on getting crash bolts soon as well as a front sway bar. I'd like to max out the mods allowed in the CS class. Are you talking about El Toro? I'll be there.

Ah, nice, alright. I'm running 17x9 wheels, JDL UEL Headers and Nameless Front/Overpipe, stock catback for now (sold N1, waiting on Nameless muffled track pipe), lightweight crank pulley, 22mm front sway bar, and a tune.

Just look for the WRB BRZ with GrimmSpeed stickers at El Toro this Sunday, I'll be out there! Look forward to seeing you out there this weekend

Hey bro, this is Rich from the autocross last weekend. Sweet video! I'm gonna have to try that angle this Sunday. I forgot to turn on spot metering so the exposure on all my runs was messed up.

See you there. I'm picking up the OEM camber bolts today and should have them installed tomorrow. I haven't signed up yet, is there a link?
