10mm bolt broke when installing Supertek hood dampers
Hey guys,
So I was installing the Supertek hood damper kit and I was almost done when the 10mm bolt from the drivers side broke off. The threaded part is still inside the hole and the top half is in my hand. Any suggestions on how I can take it out? Thanks guys! |

If there are any threads showing, you could 'carefully' put a pair of vice-grips on to unscrew it or perhaps grind a slot to take it out with a screwdriver. If the bolt is broken off in the threaded area, you will have to use an easy-out after drilling a small hole into the bolt leftovers. I am in Modesto, I may be able to help or give additional advice with a pic or in person (I have most of the tools and perhaps a small enough easyout).

if u cant get to any exposed threads and its deep inside and you dont have access to easy outs. you might be able to keep threading it in until it falls out the other side. if the hole is a thru hole you might be able to take a regular drill bit to bite into it to push it out the other side.

Make sure you use a left hand thread drill bit, if not you will be screwing in the broken bolt even further in . If you can do this.. get smaller bolt that will cover the exposed bolt, and get super glue and stick it on there for a few min.. then try to work it back out.

I've broken a valve cover bolt before. I drilled a hole big enough to jam a torx screwdrive in, and backed out the broke off thread.
