I had the same deal happen recently. I blew out the gasket during a track day at the end of June. The lock nuts were only finger tight. I know for sure that they were checked before going into the car. I assume they lost their temper or just weren't suited to the heat expansion cycles. I put it all back together with some nord-lock washers and some 2100F threadlocker (Resbond 907). If that doesn't hold, I will invest in some tooling to safety wire the sucker together.

Jeez, after seeing two of these blown, I wonder if that is where my exhaust leak is really coming from.....

Well, when I work on the clutch, guess I can drop the whole header/turbo assembly and check everything.

I'm 99% sure I'm going to be going back to re-do it, when I do I'm going to do the same setup as you (nord loc washers, threadlocker, etc). I put it back together with permatex copper, which I'm sure won't last, but I used cone nuts and torqued it down after the gasket had time to setup.

Any thoughts on using no gasket at all? I've heard of people using no gasket between the turbo and header with success since the extreme heat seals the two flanges together. They obviously have to be perfectly flat.

Also, has anyone here used alcohol or meth injection? I just recently picked up a bad batch of 94 oct here in Winnipeg and it put a bit of scare in me. Woudln't mind setting up a small alcohol injection system as a safeguard.

The Mishimoto CAI should work with the kit.

Like Draco said, the Mishimoto should work but I haven't seen one to say 100 percent. What's wrong with the perrin?

My friend ran meth in his 600whp WRX. He called it the biggest PTA he has ever dealt with.. He suggested I de-tune before considering meth injection. But we do live in Saskatchewan so everything was shipped, custom built, etc, so I am sure that caused more headaches too.

Ah OK that makes sense, I was gonna a say the perrin is a really nice intake.

Unless you're doing it for the sound, an upgraded panel filter is more than enough. Just a heads up

AVO Stage 1.5 Kit
8 PSI Actuator
3 Bar Map Sensor
Stage 3 Clutch (Comp Clutch, SSC with OEM Throwout Bearing)
AVO 2.5 inch OP / FP Combo
Perrin 3 Inch Exhaust

Anything else I'm missing?
Oil cooler?
Catch Can?
Gauges? boost, wideband, AFR...

Its been awhile since I had a turbo'd car... and trying to get back into it. This is a DD for sure though and I want to stress reliability
