It is if the officer wants to charge it as such. The statute is very clear:

https://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/leg...0+cod+46.2-862

"A person shall be guilty of reckless driving who drives a motor vehicle on the highways in the Commonwealth (i) at a speed of twenty miles per hour or more in excess of the applicable maximum speed limit or (ii) in excess of eighty miles per hour regardless of the applicable maximum speed limit."

Hah, that idiot went to Rt. 211.... everyone who is into the mountain roads in that area knows to stay away from there. It's crawling with cops nowadays.

Damn, I try to avoid speeding even in counties im not familiar with. Where I live, ive gotten two different verbal warnings for 70+ in a 35 on a smooth curvy road that just leads to mostly undeveloped neighborhoods. Theyre pretty relaxed here.

Never, ever, ever, ever speed in Virginia. The cops are ruthless and they love love love throwing the book at every out of state driver whom they catch.

I guess Jayson Werth doesn't read Jalopnik.
Nationals Star Jayson Werth Cited For Driving 105 MPH In 55-MPH Zone
Quote:
The veteran outfielder was cited for reckless driving on July 6 after he allegedly was nabbed for driving 105 mph in a 55-mph zone, NatsEnquirer.com pointed out Tuesday. Werth was pulled over in Fairfax County, Va.
They actually reference the Jalopnik story too.
