Any idea what the source of that data is - in-tank sensor, injectors, or...?

Most (if not all) cars use in-tank sensors now. Otherwise, there'd be no way to watch the tank fill up in "accessory on" like I do when setting tank levels before an autocross.

I believe the OBD2 protocol allows only one client adapter connected to the port. I don't know what equipment people use with the splitters, but everyone that I know that has tried to connect two OBD2 client devices (like the Solo DL and another OBD2 reader) has not been able to make it work.

Can a video camera be connected to it in order to get video with overlap ?

I use Harry's lap timer because the video overlays are really cool

Not as professional but fun

I pair it with the vbox sport and it is quite accurate but I can't read it while I drive

You can use RaceRender (free) to overlay data on top of any video.

Aim Solo DL Datalogger

iPhone + Harry's Laptimer for data and video mounted to windshield + Dual GPS (5Hz) + GoPro attached to the inside of the rear window pointing forward + DashWare to overlay data and video. Have Kiwi WiFi for additional ODB2 data but rarely use it and only with DashCommand for diagnostics.

Many people I know who frequent tracks use Aim Solo DL and like it.

By the way, don't leave Solo (or other OBD2 gadgets) connected when the car is off for long periods, it drained my lightweight battery over a weekend..

That's one thing that is nice about the Torque app, it reminds you to unplug the gizmo when you turn off the app.

Water temperature update! (BETA)

In order to test, you will need the latest version of RaceStudio 2 installed on your PC... http://aim-sportline.com/download/so...140723_WEB.exe

Here is what you will need to do in order to install and test the beta ECU drivers...
Instruction for upgrade RaceStudio 2 :

1) Close RaceStudio 2 , if it is already open

2) Unzip the first set of enclosed files in a temporary folder or for example onto the Desktop

3) Check your current RaceStudio 2 Installation folder (you can do so by checking the “Properties” of the Desktop shortcut. If you used the standard installation folder it should be either (depending on your PC's operating system):
Windows XP
- c:\ program files \ AIM \ Database
Windows 7 and 8
- c:\ Aim Sport \ RaceStudio2 \ DATABASE

4) Once you have located the “Database” folder, select and copy the two ECU driver files and paste and replace the default files present (after the Paste and Replace has been completed, recheck date and time of the files that were replaced to ensure that the new files are loaded.

5) Launch RaceStudio 2.

6) Create a new configuration from scratch by going to Device Configuration>>SOLO DL>>New and select Toyota>>GT86. If this option is not available in the ECU Model drop down menu, please check once more where you copied the two ECU driver files to).

And finally Transmit the new configuration back to the SOLO DL. Hopefully this will correct the temperature issue. Please let us know if it still appears to be off.

Josh

I had to ZIP the original file that they sent (DB6.rar) so that it can be attached to the forum. You'll have to unzip, then unrar it.

I haven't tested this myself yet... been too busy putting my car back together . I also have their blessing to pass this along to the community.
