This is true, although i do love the look of the interior but something isn't screaming at me.

In the General section some of the US folks are have a cry over no trunk interior cover

Have they really gone to the trouble of saving the weight and cost?

Another thing too i noticed, have a look at the UK Journo drive review (yeah the jubby 1) and have a look at how he sits and the amount of leg room in the back.

He doesnt seem to be overly tall but of average height 5'8-5'9. Not good if this will be your daily with kids.

That's me. Thanks.

I have 2 kids and they will sit on the left hand side so plenty of leg room

I'll be using as a daily driver with 2 kids. My wife sits close to the wheel so it shouldn't be much of a problem but obviously we'll have to try before buying.

After collecting more information and adding a graph, I think I was a bit overly optimistic at my first guess. It now appears that AUD$34,000 to AUD$36,000 RRP for the low spec is more likely.
Yes it is hard to gather the right info based on specs alone.

The UK is similar to our high spec

As you say Netrosis too many variables thou.

I am happy being patient and waiting for Toyota Patience is a virtue so few seem to posses these days :/
Lucky for me I have no ids, or wide. Or even A GF for that matter haha. It probably won't be my daily per se, cause I'd like to think I will still drive my other car to work fairly often to help cut fuel costs, but I will be driving it everywhere else. And probably to work most days to LOL.
At the end of the day, I have accepted the fact that if I want to get a good staff price on a brand new one I will have to wait AT LEAST 6months, possibly more, for the hype to die down a little.
Oh well, good things come to those who wait

Check out the interior, the seats alone look like a $3.5k+ option on any number of cars I can think of, including the Recaro's in an STi.

Toyota don't really have anything to compare to so who knows, but the obvious thing when someone walks into a Subaru dealer is WRX or BRZ... I think the BRZ is going to be the upmarket sports coupe, priced at least as much as a WRX, if not more.

Which, at the end of the day, is still a good price for a good quality little coupe - provided it's as good a drive as the reviews are suggesting.

My only caveat would be if they wanted to take a punt on the AUD and introduce a brand new car at a brand new price point to really ramp up sales. They can't do it with existing models as it upsets previous buyers. But why leave money on the table...
Totally agree on pricing... and i found the seats very similar to expensive sports seats in much higher priced cars.

In regards to interior quality, from my time in the car it was pretty average, similar to a Celica. It was very plasticky

The back seats are almost unusable. With a passenger in a comfortable position, the seat back almost touches the rear seat. Some food for thought

If the car does end up around high 40s for a high spec, I still don't think there's too many new cars you can buy <50k that are significantly better value.

If the rear seats are unusable, This car has very little over MX5 then, in the eyes of a average buyer. I know salesmen are good at spinning truth, but facts are facts.

Much the same as what my mate (who works for Toyota) has been telling me. It's a pretty awesome discount Toyota employees get. Definitely worth the wait.

Though to be honest, I don't see the hype really dying down. Not in the first 6 months anyway. Pricing in Australia will also be a factor too.

I wish my dad would've dropped me off in something like the 86 back in the day. I would've been one of the cool kids

I've taken a strange liking towards the FJ Cruiser. For some reason I want that to be my daily and the 86 to be a weekend car. Only I can't afford both...
