Your ASSumption was that just because a 914 is 70s tech, it is a POS.
The race prepared Miata that I passed, and the FRS that could not shake me would beg to differ.
My 914 has close to the same hp/weight ratio as the twins, but is mid engine.

And the reason the 914 even came up is that it is an Open diff stock, and "racers" make the mistake of thinking that a rear sway bar will make them faster. NOT if you have an open diff.
So if they think rear sway bars will help, then they better pony up the $$ for an aftermarket LSD.
because lifting a rear wheel with an open diff is not helpful.
Clearly you think I'm someone else

Go back and look, all I did was compliment someone's car.

If you're going to race the car, pull the abs fuse or disconnect the steering angle sensor cable (green plug under the steering wheel). My race car is completely stock with Hoosier R6, Motul 660, Hawk DT70... no interference from the computers.

I think people forget that a 914 is lighter than a current Elise, and has wonderful balance/weight distribution.

My dream project car is a 914 with a 993 engine, modernized suspension, and updated interior.

I would not have jumped back in and commented if it had still been an active subject.

The latest fad is a Suby WRX conversion. There are kits out there.
There is one guy on the 914world forums that has a 914 with a Cayenne 8 cyl in it. And there are a few that have done the boxster engine swap.
Personally I would love to put a FA20 in one.
Just have to wait for someone to rear-end my BRZ....

I think the 914 is a perfect candidate for an EZ36

I would rather build one of these if I had a spare WRX drivetrain kicking around:

If you pull the connector out of the column spiral, does that leave ABS active?

The green connector disables the steering angle sensor, which in turn disables ABS, TC, etc.
