Large statement coming from someone who doesn't even own an 86 yet.

Look, there is no need to get defensive. I obviously haven't driven a MY15, I was simply basing my opinion on the 2 articles that were posted, both of which were stating that the car isn't as prone to oversteer. I happen to enjoy the amount oversteer for daily driving, so I don't think I'm going to be trading in my car anytime soon. For most people it won't even matter since they upgrade to coils anyways. I plan on keeping my car stock though.

For those comparing it to the S2000 AP1 / AP2 changes:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkcC2uzcQgk"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkcC2uzcQgk[/ame]

Not exactly scientific ... but sort of proves the point that "less hardcore" wasn't necessarily without warrant.

The changes really only seem relevant for those who would keep the car bone stock, which would be a small group. Most people will change something that will affect the car's handling (bigger tires, different springs/adding coilovers, anti rollbars etc). Not a big deal IMO.

You would never know it from reading this forum but the majority of FR-S/BRZ are and will remain completely stock. Some others may have a few aesthetic mods but nothing that will change the handling from stock. There have been almost 58K twins sold in the US up to this point and only a couple thousand of those owners post on this forum. The people that visit and post on car forums are much more likely to mod their cars than those that don't but even then there are many owners on here that have stock cars.

Reading this forum tends to distort your view of the car and perception of its owners because nearly every thread is about "not enough power", "I have this issue" or "I modded this on my car". In reality the majority of owners are just happily driving their stock twins around and not saying or doing any of these things.
For every modded twin that I see, I see 5 that are stock. I know quite a few owners and most of their cars are stock or only have visual mods done to their cars.

I think the changes that were made were for the group that will not try to re-engineer the car to their own liking. They are to make the car safer and feel better for the vast majority of future owners.

They're dumbing down the car for the masses. We're well past the initial adaption stage now.

And Toyota is just going back to being Toyota... the grandpa brand.. Safest cars in America.

This thread made me choose the '14 over the '15 model.

Ummm this is all a bit unrealistic here. Blown way out of proportion.
I see all these posts on this thread "AHEMGEE! The FR-S now under-steers!"

If any noticible changes were made, the FR-S is more neutral now. And if owners are going to track their car then like was mentioned, they are going to change to parts they feel more comfortable with anyway.

You should really drive and appreciate the car for what it is prior to making changes. I thought I was going to do the same thing until I drove it aggressively a couple times. Now all I want are some TRD springs to remove wheel gap and I'm calling it a day.

Since I'm getting the RS 1.0 and technically that is a 2014 release, I wonder if they've made it stiffer like the 15 or If It's still tail happy.

If I was in the market right now, and had to choose between a MY14 and MY15, I would pick the car that tends to oversteer more. Obviously its not a huge difference, but its part of the reason I picked my Monogram over a Limited BRZ.

During my latest bought with an insurance adjuster about hail damage I was asked if I wanted her to try to get the car totaled (my repair date is in January 2015). I told her I would rather she try to total it now so I could have a better chance of getting a '13 or '14 compared to a '15 as I didn't like the idea of the suspension changes made to the '15s.

The 15's will be faster stock on track because of the more neutral cornering capabilities just like how the AP1 vs AP2 was and I kind of wish I waited a year and a half to purchase mine so that I could have the 15's refined cornering. But hey, maybe since I got a 13 instead, my track days will make me more refined rather than having a refined car so in that sense, I'm glad I got my 13.
