Subaru has released pricing in the US and options whereas Scion has only released pricing but no options and it appears 107 FR-S's has showed up in Portland as well. Very boggled where the BRZs are.

BRZs should be in Vancouver WA, which is literally on the other side of the river from the Portland harbors. Anyone want to try and take a look? They should be here: http://g.co/maps/7rnws

Oh my word. I can't believe they put all that sticky white tape/cover stuff on the hoods, roof, and trunks. I do PDIs now and that is by far the worst, hardest, most annoying stuff to take off. On top of that, if you pull it off too fast, it leaves sticky stuff all over the car as if you put duck tape on a car then yanked it off... I hope my dealer takes their time pealing that stuff off mine...

Wow! I posted this pic yesterday on my fb wall without realizing how significant it would be. Glad it found its way onto this forum. Took this pic at Fraser wharves by silvercity. Sexy looking cars up close

I've been big on cleaning cars for a while and always saw clay bars but never had anyone go more into detail on HOW to apply. I know I can google but what is the best approach from those in this forum that have used it? Do you do the whole body etc?

Don't mean to get this thread off topic, but just incase you guys have a little of that sticky stuff on your cars :P Clay barring gets rid of all the suffice dirt, whatever else stubborn is on your paint that you may or may not be able to see. After you wash and dry the car really good, you spray on the clay bar/quick detailer spray, rub the clay bar over that area, then wipe it off. It can take a while to do the whole car (30-45 mins). You won't regret it tho |

Some people tell you to use quick detailer or the like as the lubricant. In my opinion these people either aren't putting enough effort in or are getting checks from Meguiars. Seriously, in order to properly clay bar a car it takes many passes. This isn't a once over kind of thing. You would go through an obscene amount of expensive quick detailer if you truly used it as a lubricant, especially on days with little humidity. Would it be ideal? Sure, but so would washing the car with distilled water, and that still isn't as expensive a proposition. You do the entire painted surface of the car plus the glass, but realise unless you cleaned very thoroughly the lower body panels might still have some nasty grit on them. You'll probably want to use an older claybar here and save the fresh ones for more visible surfaces on the off chance sand like grains of something unfun get caught in the clay. I'd rather have that get drug on the downward facing part of my bumper than my hood. Oh and if you drop your claybar, you f'ed up. You just turned it into a wheel or house window cleaning device. Don't let it touch clearcoat again. As you might expect, you want to keep a good handle on that thing and don't let it slip. They're not cheap. I worked for Chrysler and clay barred EVERY car, and we would NEVER use water. Quick detailer is also a great product to have during car meets/shows to spray and wipe off the dust once you show up. |
