Yep that sounds like my 2-3 shift as well. If I don't wait for the revs to drop between shifts, it feels like it catches hard on something on the way into 3rd.

I find it works best if I hesitate for just a moment to let the revs drop, then go full speed into the 3rd gear gate. If I move it slowly into 3rd, it's worse.

I'm swapping in Gear 300 this afternoon. I'm at 9700km and last night out of no where I had a horrific grind going into 2nd. 3rd and 5th have always felt very notchy. Reverse and 1st are not easy to engage unless the car is rolling slightly. 2nd only felt slightly grindy last winter when really cold, so I always started from 2nd until I'd driven for about 5minutes and I was always very ginger with it.

last night, i have the best experience with my gear shifts. after a long day or work i got back to the car at around 2am. it was 15degrees out and OMFG it was the smoothness shifting i have experiences ever since i got the car. doesn't catches anywhere. no clunk. no notchiness. just buttery smoooooth.

that disappear after a few km… i'm thinking these transmission or the OEM fluid has a optimal operating temp. once its below that temp or above it that when it get notchy and shitty?

My car has a real nasty grind going 3rd to 4th and its only above 3500 RPM, luckily I work at a Toyota Dealership. All new synchros and a 3rd gear being installed on Tuesday.

FYI all of the parts we needed were on back order, so it appears to be a common issue. Common issues usually end with a TSB. I'm watching for one.

I bought the car used a month ago with 13,000k miles. It was my first manual car. The gears grinded the first week when I had a speed run and thought it was my human error, as well as me getting used to the car. It happened a few times after and its week four of owning it. I took it to the Toyota dealership but for some reason it smoothly shifted every time. The service technician rode with me and he even drove. No dice, no grind. He convinced me that it may be my own fault and that I am just getting used to it. I left thinking that it was my own fault and drove home shifting quickly grind-free. The next day (today), I shifted at high revs to 4th and it grinded. Anyone else having/had this issue?
My gearbox was faulty from the manufacturer and I had warranty work on it at 8k. They said it's to new to open up and fix so they just pulled it and replaced with new gearbox. No problems ever since but it grinder so awful above 5k rpm going from 2nd to 3rd. Almost as if clutch was not in at all!

This just started happening to my car yesterday. Shifting into 4th gear from any rpms above 4000 now results in a grind.

I have 16.5k miles.

Will be contacting dealer/service center soon.

I am about to remove the Turbo Kit, all the performance and trade in my FRS if my trans if broken.. it means is a piece of crap and it will be broke again in a couple years I would not go tru this every 2 years. And for me there is no warranty just 2k to get it fix.

Anyone knows the price of a new transmision? is really and update on the parts or is the same trans?

I was under warranty, but the price with labor was around 6k.

I have found that if I resort to shifting slow when at high speeds then the grind does not happen.

So if I floor it and in 3rd put the clutch in around 7K rpm I need to wait at least 1/2 second before I try to put it into 4th. If I do this there is no grind.

I think a lot of the grinding and notchy shifting is due to clutch adjustment.

On my car, the clutch was not completely disengaging, and after adjusting the clutch the shifting was improved.
