All it gets is regular maintenance and lots of smiles.

404 broken parts not found.
My thoughts exactly. I've never had an issue in my Golf TDI and it's nearly got 50k miles. 2010. These are the cars that grenade their own fuel systems. Yet, no issues. I love it. Damn luxurious for the 19k I paid for it...

Yes there is the occasional part that goes bad thats expensive, usually something electronic however its not nearly as much as people seem to believe. Their are exceptions to some vehicle models, and if you go to a dealer chances are you will get raped a bit more. However doing things yourself or from a reputable local shop is no more than any other modern vehicle.
For the most part they're not too bad, I had a 135i for 60k miles before this car and years ago I also had a 330i that I had from new to 67k miles. Out of the 2 the only "ouch" I had was the water pump went out on my 135i which was extremely expensive, about $600 in parts buying on the internet, and I needed it fixed right away since it was my daily so about another $600 in labor from an indepedent shop with a hookup through my father-inlaw. So yes that was very expensive.

I also avoided catastrophe once by a very nice dealer here in town after I kid you not about 30oz of liquid spilled in the trunk and it all ended up in the electronics bays in the rear wheel wells which fried just about everything in the car (dash, amplifier, ABS, traction control, etc). BMW is smart with center of gravity adn weight distribution and cleverly puts alot of the computers buried at the bottom of teh rear wheel wheels and under the trunk floor but that makes them very vulnerable to water damage. That repair would have cost me close to $3000 if they hadn't warrantied it as a trunk leak.

Its always nice to hear about a dealer thats not a complete asshole and actually likes to help their customers.

Just like I said though, its always something silly that goes thats exspensive on BMWs/Audis/other cars of the sort. However a lot of modern cars now are getting some of these control modules/things that cost just as much even on inexpensive cars.

Why would you down shift to a gear that would mean you are over the rev limit?

Why would I want to press the button to cause nuclear war and end humanity?

I dunno. Because I can?

edit: don't actually want to end humanity. Not that much of a psycho.

To whomever posted pis of the CLA45 AMG, that would be my choice too but it's base price is just over $45k. Which gets it close to $10k over an STI which IMO is too much of a stretch for a valid comparison.

Not to mention you will not ever find a new CLA45 AMG at MSRP. Period.

Good luck at finding a New CLA at MSRP.

So at the bar, you can tell your mates you moneyshifted that shit on the offramp, and you tell them that like its a good thing...

and then they think youre ballin' like Dom Toretto... until they go on the interwebs and figure out what moneyshifting actually means.

It's worth it just for the interior, I could never get an sti over the years partly because of the look (I do like the hatch) but mainly because of the interior.
