One fix is a shim, @s2d4 mentioned a part change that I am not aware of and want to know about. If there is a fix I want to know. I've recently had the motor go on me
Sprintex Supercharger running 70mm pulley on 95rON. Prior to the engine failure I had the following codes over a 6 month period. PO351 coil pack Po372 (I think it was this code for Cam position) PO300 multiple misfire At the time of failure I happed to be logging, indication is too much boost (.8 bar) on 95RON. Busy with rebuild. |

Thats like getting on a flght thinking you could crash.
There are many FA20's running around with no cam timing issues. I would be more concerned in trying to find out exactly what happened instead of saying screw this, time for another motor. Imagine if you got an LS7 and something happened to the factory dry sump... Does that make all LS7's bad? D Quote:

Also do you have pics of the failure? Did the block just crack or what? Sorry for your loss And to think the sprintex package is one of the more tame ones out there.

Add me to the list plz :-(
FBM stage 1 premium kit(one of the first, bought september 2013) with all te bells and whistles, GTX30, base map customized by LJ. Mileage around 1000 miles, ran fine and strong until 2 days ago. After 5 km power loss, E/G knock and finally a lot of smoke. First cylinder rod snapped and knocked a hole in the block. Had a few small problems with the kit from the beginning, but I have to say top notch service from FBM solved every single one of them in reasonable time. Reported failure @ mail LJ last sunday, received reply yesterday and I'am sure we're working things out as always... I suspect fuel conditions here in Europe are different than in U.S. I'am going for a fully built block now but before it will run one second, I will bring it to a Subaru and ECUTEC specialist... Pretty sure starvation/running lean lies at the root cause. |

Man this poll is scaring me. As it is now only 100 people who have (or had) FI have voted. You have a 1/10 chance to blow your motor when going FI. 10 votes for yes I have blown a motor and 90 for I have not (have yet) a motor.
Making me think twice |

And more importantly, Until I can afford to replace a block if necessary. Out of all of the blown motors out there. How many people regret going FI and how many loved it, despite the short run at it. Guess im asking if you could change it, would go back in time. |

Why are people running FI without WB?????
Why are people running their cars without WB with FI???? I don't get it.
If you have FI in any car, you should be running a WB and any time it starts to go lean, you stop and figure out the issue. Run FI in a car with a 12.5:1 CR and no WB, you're friggin crazy.... Jaden ^------buying WB before even tuning the non FI car, let alone once I go FI... ok. I might run a shiv tune before having WB...but not for very long though... |
