How to remove SCION silk screen logo from Headunit

There is also ELO Remover. I've used it before to remove decals without damaging plastic models. They have limited quantity on Amazon. I don't think it is manufactured any more.

My dash logo disappearing act is looking pretty good. I will post pictures later today. I used a non-acetone nail polish remover. I could still lightly see the logo and I kept going and now it sort of looks like the S is burned in. How long did you guys work on it for? Hope I didn't mess up my HU...LOL

You don't really notice it unless you're looking for it. I might try to lightly use some more today to smooth it out.

There must be a replacement bezel for these without the Scion logo, if worst comes to worst.

I did this today, worked very well, had no issues and took less than one minute to remove the logo.

This is the exact nail polish remover/acetone I used (what my wife had in the bathroom cabinet, came from Walmart):

Put some on a cotton ball, rubbed it a bit until the logo started fading, turned to a fresh spot on the cotton ball and removed some more, turned the cotton ball again and removed the last bit. Then cleaned it off with some alcohol. No haze or damage to the plastic.

Just thought I would post the exact product I used, I'm sure the nourishing part of it was not needed, but it's just what I had on hand.

There's no going back with it now. Before replacing the bezel, I'd try to find some sort of small badge to cover that area, might be tough though given the size. If all else fails, get a small piece of black vinyl cut and cover it with that. Like this:

I will attempt to further smooth it out. If all out fails I will contact Pioneer to get a replacement bezel.
This sucks, but I would rather buy a new bezel without Scion than be stuck with an ugly sticker on a brand new car.

If you can take the bezel off, sand the whole thing to get an even finish and call it a day.

I used some thrift store brand nail polish remover and a Q-tip. Very light rubbing while switching out q-tips. After that, took some Meguiars UC & an mf cloth and gently polished the area.

Then I used some Armor-all interior detailing wipes (not sure because I removed the label a while ago) to clean off any remaining polish and give it a bit of a shine.

Will take pics tomorrow when there's daylight but it came out flawlessly IMO.

Not the best shot, but I ended up taking a photo at night anyway. During the daylight, looks like there was never a logo printed there.

Used the recommended nail polish remover and my Scion HU logo is history! Took my time and used cotton balls instead of Q-tips. Always used the clean side of the cotton ball and dried the area in between applications. Did not scuff the HU plastic and looks flawless.

- Does paint thinner/mineral spirits work? Probably not, since it's weak.

- Lacquer thinner is stronger than paint thinner/mineral spirits tho; so this may work.

- Acetone def works (as already known); but is stronger than both of the aforesaid (stronger than both paint thinner and lacquer thinner).

I finally fixed my head unit using the finest # of steel whool, then finishing it off with detailer and quick wax to get back the shine. I would recommend to everyone to just using steel whool and forget about using any acid compounds. I wish I had done this to start, but there would have been no difference to the end result. Looks flawless now!
