Thank you for that product link, after a bit of studying I can finally understand how the harness functions. Lower left is for the 16-pin to the head unit, the middle connection is for the 12V accessory power and the relay is in between with a fuse. Yellow composite connector is for the camera and red wire is for camera power.

Looks like the combination of the Bypass 16-pin harness, Option Connector harness and 6-volt relay all in one unit.

That harness is a good deal! I spent $32 on SVXdc harnesses, $6 on relay, $4 on project box, etc you get the idea. That's everything with the work done for you for a great price. I wish that was available when I built my harness.

Yeah looks like SVXdc finally has some competition, but he was very good to deal with. Didn't hurt he's local to me and I had the harness in one day.

I've had my Rydeen Duo installed for two years now and it still works great, one of the best mods to the car. Mine is an older school install, I'm getting power at the rear sub.

Your cam is always on then if your car is on? That will probably affect the life of the cam.

SVXdc is good, he responded to my emails during my install and was willing to help.

I used the below camera which is very low profile. I found them for $1 shipped on ebay so I bought 5 just in case one goes on me. Picture quality is awesome and I agree this is one of the best mods that can be done to the car.

Yeah the cam is on whenever the ignition is on. I seriously doubt it's going to affect the life of the camera, people hardwire dash cams to run all the time. I would be surprised if it died before I got rid of the car. If it's been working for 2+ years fine the way it is, it will probably continue to do so.

Yea you're prob right, it doesn't generate heat and its on for an hour or less intervals in most cases. If it was running 24/7 then it may be a problem.

If it were me I'd get the autoharnesshouse harness to power it with 12 volts. It may run fine and you could never have any negative issues with 6 volts..but with it so easy and at the same price as the one SVXdc harness to 'properly' power it with 12 volts, why not just do it.

Well, I've already got the SVXdc harness installed and it's working fine, so I don't think I'll spend $30 more on it. The other harness was not available then, or I didn't know about it, but you're right that new customers have choices now, and that's a good thing. SVXdc is local to me here in Atlanta, but he's sometimes difficult to reach.

I'm looking at replacing the head unit with a Pioneer NEX when they get the CarPlay firmware upgrade, so at that point, I won't need a backup camera harness at all.

I'm sorry man, I wasn't directing that at you like you should re-do your whole setup. It was aimed at menikmati who is about to pull the trigger on his purchase\install. You were telling him no need for the option connector harness to get the 12V. It's well worth the extra $6 to get the full harness w\ option connector and relay over the SVXdc 16-pin.

Gee that cam is very neat and an amazing price. Does it work with 6V?
Does it work ok in low light? If so, the only option missing that some would want is the ability to turn on/off the guidance lines.

It could easily be mounted centrally near the trunk/boot release rather than that skewiff position that Toyota designated.

It does not lend itself to being a FRONT cam where mounting under the plate is desireable (for protection) and you want the option to flip the pic.

If you have FIVE, later you might consider side mounting with a multi-screen

Yes, it even came with a saw drill bit, 10' video wire, and 6ft of power wire. I think the seller posted them by accident for $1 since that couldn't have even covered shipping.

It only works on 12V.

I don't mind the grid-lines, I primarily use this cam for when I back into parking spaces to avoid other cars\objects. I still use my side mirrors to check clearance on either side and the cam just to make sure I don't bump into anything. I've figured out that once my bumper (on the screen) covers parking lot lines, I am perfectly parked in the spot.

It works surprisingly well at night, the only limitation is how bright your backup lights are. I bought some high power LED reverse lights and I can see a few feet behind my car which is all I need.

I mounted the camera in the trunk key hole, so no drilling was needed and it is a very low profile camera. View angle is perfect.

After posting this I went out and re-aligned the camera so the bumper is straight\flat along the bottom edge.

Well, this is a thread about the Rydeen Duo, and 6V has worked for many on here (and in other forums). And as you say, SVXdc knows his stuff. If anyone has decided on the Rydeen Duo, they should take that into consideration.

I see that other cameras are being discussed in this thread. If someone is considering other cameras, as you say, they should find out the voltage requirements of the camera and then they can decide on how they want to wire it.

I know it's a Rydeen thread, but a camera is a camera. If me posting a different cam and it ends up swaying someones purchase decision and it saves them money then that's a good thing.

Everyone is free to do what they want. I just through out my opinion that $6 was worth to run a camera at its specified voltage. It's just my OCD, if you want to run it at 6V then that's cool too.

'then they can decide on how they want to wire it' -- I'm just offering help, not trying to tell someone how they have to do it..just helping do it the proper way.
