I have a feeling that if we group buy with another dealer, we will get our incentives. Scion Richmond has too many people on their list. If we go with another dealer, I think we can get a discount.

Ahmed wants to create a track day for the group buy. To me, this is not really a big incentive for me but I am sure that it'll be an expense for the company.

It was an alright experience. Being 24 y.o. (looking like 22 max because of my asian heritage), they seemed to humor me more than that I was treated as a customer. But when i flashed the cash for a preorder then they started to listen up.

I had a really good experience with ahmed at Richmond Scion though. I walked into the dealer in Feburary 2012 and talked to him about a car for my girlfriend - she's looking for a compact sedan to take to and from work. Ahmed had a very good demanor and I truly can't speak ill of the guy. If the pre-order list wasn't too long, I would have already pre-ordered with Richmond Scion.

Oh I picked JP scion in surrey because my girlfriend lives in Guilford. I commute 35K/year because of her... I own a 2012 Elantra GLS that takes all of the abuse because a) it is fuel efficient and b) has all of the creature comforts to please her.

Maybe this would be the perfect time for me to introduce myself to the Vancouver Area members.

Hello everyone, my name is Marlon and I have just recently graduated as an RN. I recently bought a 2012 Hyundai Elantra GLS because I used to work for Openroad Hyundai back in 2006-2008 - that's when their cars started to evolve for the better. When I saw the 2012 Hyundai Elantra on the road, I decided to buy one in 15 minutes - here she is back when I bought her in August.

Though I love my car as she sips gas compared to my previous cars (2002 Corolla, 2003 Corolla and 2003 Sienna), I long for a faster MANUAL car which is why i am looking for my second car. Now i know that it's not wise to finance two cars at a time, but I realized that I only live once and I may not get another opportunity to own a sports coupe when i get married which is in 3 years or so. I might as well make the best of it all right now.

So without further ado, I am looking at the following cars as well... My second car will never be tracked. It will only be enjoyed on the street.

New Cars
- Scion FR-S
- Subaru BRZ
- Veloster Turbo
- '13 GC 3.8

Used Cars
- Miata NA
- Honda EP3
- Honda AP1/AP2

Possible trade option w/ Elantra
- Sonata 2.0T

Any thoughts? I know that this is a FR-S group but if i can get an honest unbiased opinion, that would be great!

Oh and I am very much into photography as well. I am a registered Canon Professional.

Really depends what you vaule most

Can you live with a 2 seater? Do you want a FWD car? Is MPG really important?

The new GC I can't stand the look at all but the inside is nice I heard the tranny is better but still notchy, plan to test drive a 2.0t before I drive the FRS. The 3.8 I find just wayyy to expensive for my taste.

The Veloster Turbo I liked when I saw pictures of it but in person it looks odd to me (the front) and its priced in Canada at like 1k less than the FRS

Miata is a great car but 2 seater and no fixed roof ruin it for me

Do not like the EP3 really loss revs and didn't gain power and for a honda revving the hell outta the egine is kinda fun also the ep3 is the only civic I've seen roll over

AP1/2 I love these cars but same reason maita is out applies for me. Great car tho but expensive to mod.

Sonata 2.0T is a nicely equipped car but not my cup of tea. I want a sports or at least sporty car. Good land cruiser tho

All very good opinions. Interesting insight.

I have always wanted to own a convertible as a second car. Anyone own one - what is your opinion on convertibles related to where we live in Canada with our Schizophrenic weather.

Marloon, you've posted such a broad range of car types that you're going to need to do a lot of test driving to sort out your priorities. A lot of people can't understand why some of us are willing to spend "so much" on a small, relatively underpowered car with little practicality, limited amenities, etc. when something like the 2.0t GC gives you "so much more". The only way you can find out if the FR-S's premium is worth it to you is to find out how much you value the relatively intangible aspects of what make cars like the S2000 and FR-S so good - handling, road feel, and so on - through driving them.

Some of us already know (or think we know) the answer to that for ourselves, based on our experiences with other cars of similar ilk.

Ive considered all of tthose cars too actually.

for me:
velociter - WAY TOO UGLY
GC - Boaty. too big. feels like im driving a really fast limo. '13 one is WAY TOO UGLY
miata - two seater; was gona get a '92 NA but was advised against it - "grandma car" lol, under powered, expensive for such an old car, soft-top roofs break easy (hardtop roof will run you 2k extra; aftermarket)
S2k - really nice car. gears are too short though. not suitable for highway use. 22mpg i think it was. also no low end torque. (you need 7k+ rpms for REAL s2k power)

FR-s seems perfect. moderate power, 4 seats, not ugly, not boaty, fuel efficient!

yeah i did. synchro on gc kinda sucks... low end has nothing there... suspension is too soft. sound proofing makes it too quiet inside (hence the limo comparison).

what it needs: more boost, better low end-mid range torque, better exhaust, new suspension (stiffer)

with 2-3k in mods thoough, the thing is not bad. still ugly though.
i say this because my buddy has a 2010 gc with 10k worth of mods on it. it drives like a rocketship. but going around corners almost always requires u to slow down.

Got this email from vancouver regency scion

Dear All,
*********** Good morning everyone. As everyone want the FR-S so badly, remember I told you that I might get the real FR-S for you guys to look at and sit in. I still don’t have the exact date and time. But good news is that FR-S is in Vancouver port and will release first of May. So I expect we will have this FR-S in our showroom around the 10th May for couple hour. We are not sure that will let pre-order customer to test drive it because this is the only one FR-S in B.C. But sure can take a ride with me! I will give you more update about the preview. *If you or have friend want to pre order the FR-S please hurry because the wait time is much longer now. Don’t hesitate to email me if you have any concern. Thank you.
