Currently we preordered from the Richmond auto mall, and if I remember correctly as of Wednesday, we have 3 people in the group buy. Reply to this thread if you are interested and let see how much of a discount we can get.

Good luck getting this going!

I have a pre-order spot at open road richmond too.

I'm open to the thought of it, but don't see anything productive happening.

I've also got a #1 spot brz deposit that i MAY get instead

put me as a MAYBE?...;)

Well I doesn't hurt to see what kind of deals we can get through a group buy, the more the better =D

If the Scion dealership does not give you guys a group buy discount, most likely if the car is in high demand short supply, ask for floor mats or some shop manuals instead.

Good luck

Not picking on Sleeperz, but there are a lot of references to "asking for floor mats" as part of dealing with Scion. The standard feature list includes floor mats in the US, and rather nice looking ones at that.

Are those not part of the list in Canada?

I'm from the Okanagan and there's no Scion dealership here so I'll probably be coming to the mainland to buy a Scion if Subaru prices are out of whack here in Canada.

I've got an order in for a BRZ Limited though so as long as things are reasonable I'll be sticking with a local Subaru dealership here.

Maybe get some friends that want some xBs in the group. Those probably aren't moving so well.

Hey.

I live in Burnaby.. i was planning to go to the port moody scion to ask about preorders. I could go to the Richmond one too.

Anyone in particular I should speak too? Also how much of a deposit is required for the preorder.

Put me down for the groupbuy!

Thanks in advance

Ikaros 04-02-2012 07:57 PM

The one we are talking to is Ahmed, and the deposit was $500. Let see if we can get even more people, and see what kind of deal we can get.

Dimman 04-02-2012 10:07 PM

I'm serious about the xB thing, too guys. Doesn't only have to be FR-S for a group buy, so long as it's a Scion. More people (serious people, with sorted finances...) you can use to give a sales rep a commission boner, more leverage you have to negotiate. If you bring in 10 people each willing to buy a car in one day, I'm pretty sure you can start talking significant discounts, regardless of dealership 'policy'. Also get them to waive all those thieving service and document charges...

So hit up friends and/or family that may be serious about buying an xB, iQ, tC whatever as well.

Ikaros 04-02-2012 10:14 PM

Yeah this group buy doesn't have to be for a FR-S, but sadly I don't have any friends who are buying a new car right now, plus this forum's name is FT86club. I could try and branch out and find some people from other forums though.

Mr.Jay 04-02-2012 10:39 PM

That's actually a great idea dim tho funny enough last time I was at the dealership some guy traded in his Porsche for a xb tricked out like one the had in the show room.

Is there a BC only scion site?

Hopefully we can attract a few more people here.

Ikaros 04-02-2012 10:48 PM

Yup, this should be a BC only thing unless someone wants to drive all the way to Richmond just for the group buy lol. Well you never know if we get a huge discount, it might be worth the trouble.

By the way who's the other person in the group buy, I remember Ahmed said there were 3 including me I think.
