The OEM Potenzas on the Genesis Coupe are straight up sorry. You can very easily slip up to third on the wet under hard acceleration, and ever on the dry you can feel the tires skidding under heavy torque.

As soon as I can shake off the feeling of having spent a few grand on a vacation, wider Michellin PSSs, new HawkP break pads, a CAI and a tune are going on the Genesis. That ought to really fine tune the application of the car's power.

Is it too much to ask the OP to correct his own post that the Genesis has a 3.8L and not a 3.6L?
Also, not sure where you get price is competitive with the 3.8 being about $10,000 more than an FR-S. Even if you compare a BRZ Sport-Tech, there is still an $8,000 difference. Unless Hyundai is dumping huge discounts on them, the 2.0T is a more valid comparison. That is like going in to buy a Yaris and coming out with a Camry. At least compare a Yaris to a Corolla.

I thought you said your last post to this thread was a while ago?

Hyundai is dumping huge discounts on them. I can find 3.8L models for $26K where I live (about $7K off sticker). 2.0T models are going for $20K.

Probably because they are such great cars.

From a few friends working at Hyundai, my understanding is that they MIGHT have (slightly) overproduced the '14 model, and since the car is rumored for a 2015 redesign, they're pushing to have 2013s out the door at even.

Which I can second. OtD price for my 3.8 R-Spec was $27,200.

Yep, the Genesis is on fire sale right now. It makes you think you're getting a bargain. Good luck when you go to resell. Hyundai has terrible residuals because they make mediocre products and sell them like they're used cars.

The thought of somebody paying close to sticker on a Genesis Coupe, even when new, is pretty funny.

No, your thinking is wrong. They maximize exit speed because those cars can, not because they have to, but because they can due to a superior chassis and balance. The others rely on power because they lack composure due to excess weight transfer. IF those larger cars with power could maintain those lines and preserve their speeds they would do it to win races. Simple as that. That's what formula and LMP cars do because they have the power and chassis, balance and low weight. Alonso is not going to take a slower line because he has 900hp he has to put down.

If you are calling that all carbon fiber trd griffon on racing slicks a 86, then can I call this a 350z?

No you can't. You and I both know that a GT300/500 car goes through far more chassis and engine modification than the Griffon. Those cars pretty much only share a similar skin. That would be analogous to calling a NASCAR a 'stock car'. Nice try though.

I also didn't get the memo when 'tilting' became the slang term for an idiom. In which case it seems rather redundant but nvm that.

Thanks for the boron extrication link though!

Isn't that close $2K more than what someone can get a BRZ limited for?

The same can be said for all vehicles. Good luck getting more than $20,000 trade-in after driving your $27,000 BRZ off the lot.

When I was shopping for the 86, the BRZ limited was going far closer to 30K sticker in my area. Even with a new FR-S, I was quoted around 31K post tax/fees/etc; thanks Pure Pricing.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, not trying to toto horns and such but I couldn't care less what the resale of my '14 3.8 GT is. I COULD buy an M4, I chose NOT to. Maybe if I had the income I have now 5 years ago I would. I'm looking for bang for buck. I'll spend the $40k elsewhere. Like a cruise to the Med. We all know buying cars isn't an investment, short of a '62 California you lost a heap driving it off the lot. Resale has NEVER crossed my mind in a car purchase. We are all driving very new cars on this forum, 1st world problems, huh? We are all blessed/good fortune, etc.

Seconded. I guess people just have to nit and pick excuses to get at others.

What I don't get is the fact people will go back and forth over two completely different cars. What baffles me more is when the debates turn into a contest who can piss farther purely on the basis of opinions. We all know the strong points of the twins along with its "weak" points with all things considered. At the end of the day its an entry level sports car if you want a GT then look no further to a 5.0 or a 3.8. Both are great bang for their buck but I will go this far it is a hyundai(which Im sure it will incite some anger) and as of recent their quality has been substandard. They're turning a new leaf it seems but same as the twins only time will tell how reliable they actually are.
