I would like your opinion on the following setup after reading the article detailing how to screw up your suspension which I loved. This is going to be an expensive setup that will take a long time to get done but what do you think?
This is for a DD with occasional track days. 1) Original plan was TE37SL 17x8.5 front and 17x9.5 rear (For the looks of the concave wheel), but after your article, thinking I should stay square in setup with 17x8.5. What would be the detriment of using a square 17x9.5 and would a staggered 17x8.5 and 17x9.5 be worse than a square 17x9.5 setup with difficult to tune out understeer? I love the looks of the 9.5 width but not as much the impairment in performance, would the lightness of the forged wheel and a non-racing tyre help mitigate this? 2) Upgrade coilovers to a local premium setup (Shockworks/ MCA racing) or save for ohlins and stick to coilover recommended drop e.g. 10mm. 3) Stick to non Racing compound tyres with 235/40/17. I do not want to stay stock because I want to upgrade to wheels I like the look of and also because I plan to increase power with an e85 tune and headers aiming around 190kw ATW or more. I understand I might get blasted for suggesting 9.5 width rims on a car with only 190kw but I guess I'm after a balance of looks without impairing the handling too much. Advice much appreciated. I've read quite a few pages but theres so many pages of info and need help getting the best alignment settings. Car is my daily, but I go out to do some fun driving around the canyons and mountains very often.
I was talking to a buddy and he suggested zero toe, -2.5 camber front, -2.0 camber rear. Current set up: Fortune Auto coils rpf1 18x9.5 Tires are 245/40/18 Any personal experience would help me a great deal! (gonna go back to reading this thread)

Looks like there's a lot of good info in this thread. I'll flip through it when I get a chance, but I thought I could go ahead and ask my question too so I can have as much info available as possible.
Right now, my only suspension mod plans are RCE yellow springs and Koni yellow shocks. I'm also thinking about the whiteline rear bushings, but I have virtually no info on them. Other mod plans include: 17x8 +45 wheels 245/40 tires Driveway labs v2 diffuser Wald international spoiler This car is a daily driver for me and my only car. I run backroads occasionally and am off and on with autocross use. I'm not very big on the idea of adjustability, I'm more the "set it and forget it" kind of guy. My question is, do I need anything else, suspension wise, to compliment that stuff? I know a lot of people are getting LCA's but they are fairly expensive and seem unnecessary unless I want more control over camber. I'm willing to add stuff to my list, but I want to make an informed decision.

A lot of people go with rear LCAs instead of the whiteline rear camber bushings because the LCAs are easier to install and adjust. - Andy |

2. I don't know much about MCA but they seem to be quite popular over there. Hard for me to compare them to anything though. 3. 235's on a 9.5 is a narrower tire than I'd like. - Andy |

I've narrowed my wheel choice down so I want to ask the experts to make sure I won't need anything else.
18x8.5 +38 wheels. 235/40/18 Michelin PSS. SPC camber bolts for front and SPC rear LCA's. RCE Yellows on stock struts. Should everything be fine? No poke? I'll probably track every now and then for autocross, but mostly street driving. If you have any tips or any suggestions on what to do differently, I'm all ears. |

It might poke a little.
I'm running 18x8.5 +48 with 225/40/18 tires and it looks pretty flush to me. I've got pics in the wheel directory. |

I think -2.5 might be too much since I read that it might have uneven tire wear. So most likely going with -2 front and -1.7 to -2 in the rear. My eyes hurt after reading 60+ pages of this thread! haha

-2 front and -1.7 rear is a good compromise for a mostly dd fun car. Hair of toe depends on your alignment guy. +.01 would be nice but up to .05 is okay. It's also a little driver/taste dependent. - Andy |
