A lot of people have seen success putting the oil cooler in front of the intercooler (not the best looking but functionality would be unmatched).

I've also seen people put it in front of the fog light area and remove that plastic so air can get in. Passenger side being the preferred side it seems.

What about laying the oil cooler flat? Cut some of the underbody and laying the oil cooler flat would allow the air to exit down and away instead of into the fenderwell, maybe?

Weld it to the oil pan

Honestly you could probably do whatever you want with it, but in the end I wouldn't want to make the routing of the oil lines much more difficult just to get to the cooler to an optimum location.

WELL....i know of all the common places, i even posted about that. Putting the oil cooler in front of the intercooler puts 200 degree heat into your intercooler. Putting it in between the intercooler and the radiator helps, but still restricts air flow to the rad and im running a stock radiator. Putting it in the foglight area seems pretty good minus the airflow out of the area is a little restricted and oil cooler lines get a little bit long. Im almost thinking about a small fan on it in the fog light area.
But after poking around last night there is a rather large area next to my air filter (fullblown kit) that has nothing there above the crash beam so an oil cooler and a fan might fit. I also looked at placing it at an angle BEHIND the radiator in front of the drivers side head laid down with a fan blowing OUT of the engine bay and towards the ground. I currently use no skid plate so i would use a corner of it to aid in mounting it, most likely at some awkward angle. Any thoughts?

or get a robispec and not worry about oil cooler placement....

plus it will help heat your oil in the winter

^ Don't quote me, but i've been hearing they've been having issues with the Robispec combo. I've seen a few posts about it now. I would love one though if I could afford it (and it worked, course.)

I think best place for oil cooler is behind fog light area on passenger side with mesh covering it. Cutting/replacing factory crash beam would result in you getting sued in the event that they do any investigating after an accident, you modified safety equipment that is part of integral crumple zones. Also, putting another heat source in front of 3 heat sources already, making a total of 4 makes the subsequent 3 heat exchangers less efficient.

Depending on pipe routing locations in the bay for your FI kits, a bracket suspending a cooler in front of the motor on the passenger side with a shroud directing air flow would be another good option while still maintaining fog light functionality.

I was thinking behind the fog light, but laid flat, with the plastic underbody removed. Air would enter the fog light hole, and exit down through the cooler, basically in front of the wheel.

I have my oil cooler mounted in the passenger fog light area. I just picked up one of these. Gonna mount it to the fender liner as an exhaust vent.
