For me it came down to a base Cayman and 370z. Had read hundreds of reviews on both and test drove 2 different base Caymans, a 2009 and a 2011. Then suddenly outta the blue I remembered everything I'd read and seen about the FRS/BRZ decided to give it a shot. Long story short, I never test drove the 370z or even made it into the Nissan dealership after seeing about the twins. I'm sure the 370z is a great car but the FRS is a great car too and the accolades are warranted once you begin to understand the car. Good luck. Either choice is a good one.

Both cars are great, it all comes to down what you plan on doing with the car.

Money talks when it comes to horsepower, both cars have their pros and cons. I personally choice the FR-S because it was within my budget, insurance rate is great, its a really nice looking car, and I plan on adding to it.

Added bonus, FT86 Speedfactory is down the street from my house so aftermarket parts are easy to get it too, oh and the DISCOUNTS I get from them can't beat prices shipped to my door.

Loving everyone's comments between the two platforms. I can see this thread getting crazy lol.

Both cars are fun, without a doubt. I'm sure you will enjoy the one you choose. Comparing statistics is nice but the best advice is test drive them and see what you like. Each car has their own feel, which is what makes them unique. Enjoy buddy and welcome to the forum!

Disclaimer: I plan on keeping my FRS forever.

I had the same decision to make and I went with the FRS. Problem with the Z is its engine. Its ridiculously complicated and cramped. I do all my own work/modifications/maintenance and I can see the Z being a HUGE headache in 10-20 years where as the FRS engine is simple and easy to maintain/modify. Look at Nissan's history. More people buy/modify the 240sx than the 300zx because the 300zx is a NIGHTMARE to work on. I fear the 370z will share the same fate.

I'm willing to bet money that you have not test driven either one, nor have you done your research on either vehicles as they aren't even close to being similar.

Can't really compare them. Go the 370z if you wanna go fast, but I've been reading that the handling on it is terrible this model. Go test drive both.

I went FRS but looked at the 370z. The biggest knock I had against nissan was their service. It could just be our area but my mother has an infiniti and service, customer and maintenance, has been an a huge pain in the ass. Every little thing they can charge you for they will, that and they are less than helpful or polite when being dealt with.

Probably can't even afford either, considering he thinks FRS and 370z are priced similarly.

Do you live somewhere that you can take advantage of the FR-S exquisite chassis on a daily basis?

If you live somewhere with flatness in every direction, arguably the 370z might be better. Your thrills will be better had winding it up in a straight line. I love my FR-S but I'd like to live in hillier area to fully enjoy the car's dynamics.
