Clutch Sounds Like a Tractor?

Kind of a weird thing I know but after having another car friend ride along with me he was like "Yea that does sound like a tractor!".

Anyways here is what is going on and maybe you guys can help me figure out if this is normal or what not.

This sound only happens when starting out in first gear from a dead stop. Right before the clutch is fully engaged it sounds like there is a tractor running for a couple of seconds which lasts for about a second into the clutch being fully engaged.

It is really strange and I have just ignored it for the longest time but I am really starting to worry that the original owner (which seems like was an irresponsible female) was abusive to the clutch. If you guys have any ideas let me know thanks! Also the car has 19K miles in case you were wondering..

You're saying the clutch is rattling at low rpm. That's usually not supposed to happen. But sometimes I can make the clutch rattle in 1st too. Might need to save up for a clutch replacement.

Is this happening at REALLY low rpm's as you accelerate? I find my tranny grumbles a little if lugged.

Agreed. Every car I've had if lugged low enough in 1st and 2nd all made the grumble.

It happens when I am starting off at around 1000RPM while giving it a little throttle which is what I do when I am trying to start off easy. If I just ride the clutch with more RPM's then it doesnt happen.

It is probably nothing major but I just thought I would ask. Thank you for all the help guys!

Also its not like a low RPM grumble. I feel those all the time and you can feel that through the whole car usually. But this is just a sound you can hear from the clutch. There really isnt any feeling associated with it.

It's normal, every single standard vehicle I have driven makes that kind of noise if you start at to low of an RPM as you start off.

IIRC its the springs in the clutch plate. If the clutch is not fully engaged and your at a slow rpm your causing the springs to contract and give out as the clutch grabs/slips

Mine grumbles when the clutch is engaged, and the engine is slowing down the vehicle (typically heard around 30-40 km an hour, engine deceleration) the sound stops if I disengage the clutch. Has me a little worried.
