Personally I didn't think it was that hard as long as you have the tools. The instructions were pretty good and most difficult part is removing panels. I even did my reference upgrade without instructions (early batch lol).

Did anyone else who did the installation themselves have trouble getting the green snap connectors behind the driver's kickpanel to release from the body of the car so you could put them back on the panel? I can't get the damn things loose.

@SilverlightPony
In the absence of a panel clip tool: You can use your crimp tool to get a grip on the green locking tab and pull away from the vehicle. Update us on whether or not either of these help. Other then those clips how's the install going? |

I have a set of plastic trim panel tools, they weren't working. A friend brought over a metal one that got the job done.
Now we have a new problem: I got the system installed, but I'm not getting any sound.I've checked all the connections and everything looks good, but still no luck. Mind you, I have a Ca-Fi Dashlinq4 head unit rather than the stock HU. Last edited by SilverlightPony; 07-16-2014 at 11:31 PM. |

For anyone who's wondering, I had the blue/white Amp Pwr On wire from the HU (which, on the Dashlinq4, is not hooked to a plug, but left loose, to be tapped/spliced into the appropriate harness wire) tapped into the wrong wire. Got that sorted, and it fired right up!

Sad to report one minor issue: intermittent crackling from the right front tweeter. Percussive maintenance (smacking the dashboard) "solves" it temporarily. I'll be popping it out to check the plug connection tomorrow afternoon.

Just had my OEM Audio Reference installed today. So far it's a little disappointing. I think the company who installed it must have messed something up because the entire audio system sounds very weak and the subwoofer is not working.
I can get decent sound from the tweeters and the door speakers, however the BRZ volume must be set to about 40-45 in order to get an average sound. Anything in the 30's will sound like background music that sounds close to the stock system's volume of 15-20. I'll be taking my car back to the installer tomorrow and having them check the system out again. I highly doubt that the issue is with the OEM Audio system itself. So many good reviews could not possibly be towards what I'm hearing in my car. I'm hoping the installer finds the issue and can fix it without me having to pull it out and do a warranty claim. I'll update tomorrow. ![]() FYI: With the fade set all the way to rear all I can hear is weak back seat speakers and absolutely zero subwoofer. I know that the rear seat speakers are still factory so I don't see any reason why those should sound weak as well, unless it's some installation error.

@ericmpena, thank you for providing this update on your install. Agreed, it sounds like something is not installed correctly. Our System Integration team will contact you first thing in the morning (PDT) to further gather feedback regarding what you are experiencing.
Ensuring you experience the O+ signature sound is our top priority and we'll do everything in our power to ensure this process is expedited. Typically we can assess what's going on in the course of a call. We'll be in touch in the morning. Let us know if anything between now and then. |

Thanks to OEM Audio for being very quick to respond to my issue. Unfortunately we're still trying to figure out what's going on with my system.
I received a decibel test track as well as a bass test track from OEM Audio. With my stereo set at 30 I was getting 69db from the driver seat. Eq was flat and fade was centered. I got the same peak db of 69 the 3 times that I ran the test. As for the subwoofer, playing their bass tester track proved that the subwoofer appears to be working properly. The bass was very solid during that test track. The only problem is that unless I'm listening to a bass tester track...the rest of my music sounds very thin. I took my car to the installer and they verified that they've connected everything correctly as well. Well, now I have a new issue. As I was driving home today from work my Nav has started shutting itself off every few minutes. Here's a video of what's happening now: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMXOOZ5G3H0"]BRZ Nav shutting off randomly - YouTube[/ame] Could it be that there is just a lack of power somewhere that could be making the subwoofer weak and now causing the Nav to shut down? I don't think it's a loose cable because even going over speed bumps harshly I was unable to trigger the shut down of the Nav. It shut down mainly on the highway with smooth driving. I'm going to take my car to the installer one more time tomorrow to see if they can resolve this new issue and triple check all connections. OEM Audio has been a huge help and although my issue hasn't been determined yet, I have extreme confidence that they will not leave me unsatisfied.
