No. Maybe. I just don't have time, desire or wallet to alter a car to get the final product I want. And ten grand in after markets stuff won't give me the "perfect" car. It's a trade off.

takes less than a day to have a turbo kit installed and tuned...if you're willing to pay 35k for it as stated above, then money is not an issue. Sorta confused but oh well

Exactly. $10K goes a good way to decent price/performance suspension, brake, tire, power upgrades.

It's not always that simple. Read the excellent thread(s) and watch the videos by Dezoris. I was about to go down the path of going FI with my BRZ (Full Blown is down the street) but decided against it before having to sell the car for something with four doors and a larger backseat.

No doubt going FI can address the power issue with the FT86, but I myself would prefer a car with a stock turbo that has a warranty.

The FA20DIT turbo in the WRX/Forester XT would be ideal for the FT86. I hope it happens.

I agree bud which is why I haven't gone full out fi yet. But he doesn't care about warranty. Good choice with the wrx though

@Twin4Life

It seems like you and many others think they are on some sort of mission to tell us our cars are slow, cheap, uncomfortable, not as practical, and by the numbers don't handle as well as we think they do.

You're not telling us things we don't already know, most of us spent a lot of time understanding what we were throwing $25k down and are a bit offended that you think we overlooked such a glaring obvious error that we're going to turn around and drive whatever gets your jollies off.

Of course people are going to respond with why they chose a Toyobaru over a Gen coupe whether it be light modifications for AutoX, an inexpensive reliable DD/track car, or the fact that no amount of tires or V6 will compensate for >700 pounds of fat. (That last one was mine)

Feel free to continue the 'discussion', just realize that you're not exactly changing our minds.

Figure 8 numbers in the ballpark of a Ferrari 458, SRT Viper and R8 V10. You'll never get a Genesis, Civic, or most of the lame cars mentioned in this thread to put up these handling numbers or be this capable. Simple as that.
If you wanted to do that buy a cheap 3k beater foxbody 5.0 and throw a maximum motorsports kit for 2k on it. Tested by motortrend in 98 to be the third best performing car they'd ever tested in the slaloms and skidpad. To this day its only 1mph behind the cars you listed. Just saying.

Haha, I like it! 72.5mph and .97g's on BFGoodrich R1 semi slicks. Too bad I could already do better on my other car with worse rubber. ;P

Is it still $2000 after 15 years?

I drive figure eights all the time. Day and night. I only drive figure eights. Because it's a useful metric of performance.

Gee wiz, when would you ever have time to autocross or do circles around a skidpad then?

Yeah, surprisingly it hasn't gone up. I would love to do that if I was in to mustangs, just to see peoples reaction of that land yacht driving like that at an autocross haha.

To be honest in my opinion, the twins are like Honda civics. They are cheap fun cars and don't pretend that they are comfortable, fast, or luxurious. If that is what you want, get a twin. If that is not what you want, get something else.
