Based on the times they put down and the HP advantage of a GC.

Based on your definition, I'm not sure I understand how the 370Z starting at $29,990 isn't better than the Genesis Coupe? Power is close, handling is better (yet still behind the 86), tighter package closer to 86 dimensionally than a GC which is like the Mustang.

Just realized the 86 has rear seats and the Z doesn't. Talk about better packaging...

No one is going to deny the gen coupe is faster around a track or in a straight line than a twin; however, when people come on our forums and say it's a better car you are going to get people disagreeing.

Just come out and say you wanted more horsepower and bought the wrong car.

When you try to argue what car is better it makes it sound like you are trying to justify your purchase. Especially when you dropped a twin for it.

All I've done from the start of this thread is simply give my opinion as someone who has owned both vehicles. Never have I said the Genesis Coupe is a better car.

As a matter of fact: It's different, very different from the twins. Honestly, different enough that it doesn't merit comparison, but others beg to differ and chose to ignore I having said so in page 1.

Do I think I bought the wrong car in the first place? No, but I learned along the way that I value certain things more than others. One being power, another being comfort; seeing that my commute for the foreseeable future is 90% Highway.

I already justified the purchase of the Genesis Coupe to myself, and I need not justify it to others; not that I would even care to try to.

With that being said, I've chosen to make this post my last contribution to this discussion.

As I've already said before to others here, and my own friends, I think the 86 platform is fantastic within its own merit, and I hope Toyota will continue to develop it with great dedication.

I owned my FR-S for a year and I will greatly remember everyone of those 36,000+ miles.

When I make my next car purchase, whatever generation twin may be available will certainly be at the top of my list.

What's funny is many of the reasons you bought the Genesis Coupe are the same reasons I bought the FRS. More comfort, more practicality, more power than my other preferred car (MR-S), lol.

Goes to show where priorities and thresholds differ from person to person.

We are discussing in the "vs" section right? Unless you wanna discuss 86 vs 86 till the end of time you're gonna find owners of different cars in here. Me being one of many. And no one is saying anything about a "better" car. The one handed negative jabs at the platforms are ridiculous. We discuss the merits of different cars, observe what one platform does against the next.

In light of that, and don't take this the wrong way, there isn't a track on the planet where a stock 86 will beat a 370Z. Being same driver, same conditions etc. Not gonna happen. Same could be said with the Z against the 3.8. Genesis won't win anything either. That being said, what the 86 offers offers, IMO, after tracking numerous times along with a score of other cars, is that the Twins offer Porsche-esque handling. No it's the grippiest, tightest or best. But it is dialed in so well, at the level of an $80k platform that it becomes just so damn fun for almost a QUARTER of the price!!! If it was pure lap times I'm after in a DD we'd all be driving used ZO6's or something of the like. I got rid of my 370Z for the 3.8 because I realized I wanted more Touring than speed at this point in my mid 30's. I wanted the baseball glove leather, stitched dash, NAV, homelink, Bluetooth, hands free everything and comfortable ride with a big dose of power for the same money I was paying for a base Z that just zips around everything really fast but with no...panache. No nav, leather, sunroof, hands free, etc. that's why we are talking about the GC with the Twins just as the Twins are compared to Porsches at almost a 1/4 of the price.

Stopped reading your post when I realized you haven't read anything.

No one said an 86 could keep up with a 370z on the track.

This is one of the most myopic forums I had the pleasure to partake in.

I think some people don't realize how much trolling is happening in this thread.
