Considering my turbo + tune + built motor is going to cost around $13k that's not terrible. And the resale value on top of the line parts is still decent when I do decide to swap them out. A header with a couple track days worth of wear on it won't perform any differently than a new one.

By the time it gets to your door, it'll be time for your turbo. Their lead times are pretty far off.

Don't listen to these guy's who clearly don't know what they are talking about with headers being useless if you are going FI.

Aside from twin screw and centrifugal superchargers, there are several turbo kits as well that place the turbo further back in the exhaust (maintaining the header). In fact, for those types, you generally want to replace the factory catted header with a catless to ensure it doesn't break up and destroy your turbo. PTuning is the first that comes to mind, but there are at least 4-5 others.

There are also a few that offer headers that you can swap the "up pipe" from N/A to a turbo up-pipe. Probably slightly less efficient in N/A form, but you can still buy piece-by-piece this way.

I don't think you understand what people are saying. Why buy a header right now if only a few months from now he will buy a kit that will likely have it's own manifold? Because that's what it seemed like he is doing. By saying he wants cheap because he wants to boost it, it infers that he will get rid of it once the car is boosted.

lol yea this is true. I know you and I have both had our header for a bit now, so I wasn't thinking about the wait time on them.

You should probably read my post again. There are quite a few kits that do not come with a header because the turbo is post-header. Therefor, a header bought now would be retained and beneficial.

As for the OP, he should give more info if he already has a specific kit in mind. Otherwise, this info is probably good for him as well.

dood, who cares if he wastes his money -- it's his decision...

Here's my list so far:
JDL catless UEL
Borla UEL
FT86 speedfactory UEL (catted or non catted)
Nameless EL
open flash header (UEL)
Tsudo (ebay?) UEL
fa20club (UEL) (sucks!?)

that's all I can think of for about 1 grand or so.

life decisions are life decisions... all I can say is that (you asked for people's opinion, you're going to get more than what you asked for)
