I did once set foot into a Hyundai dealership, when the Genesis sedan came out. I was driving a 528i at the time. The Genesis had a mediocre interior, a decent engine, and a terrible chassis. Just awful. A joke. And I never went back. The Genesis wasn't even on my radar when I got the FR-S. It's just a blech car. Really. But you like it. You feel otherwise. Every review of a Hyundai I read goes something like, "Wow, so much better than before. What a great value. What a long list of features. Too bad it drives like crap. We recommend the other brand." After a while, I stopped paying attention. They look great on paper.

Korean phones? Sure. Korean LCDs? Absolutely! Korean cars? Nope. Korean food? Naaaah. Women? Sure.

Hyundai is the Washington Generals of car brands. It's the brand people buy when they want a bargain. It's like shopping at an outlet store. You think you're getting the same product as the retail stores, but you're really getting something inferior.

Really, who walks into their garage and says, "Ah yeah, I got me a Hyundai. Rhymes with Sunday."

Which explains the piss poor residuals.
The original Genesis Sedan was released in 2007. You might want to update your books.

By your standards, I'm surprised anyone still buys American cars.

I know you did. I just wanted the point to be re-iterated, by others as a sanity check for myself since someone was ranting about the chassis of the Genesis being far superior.

I have absolutely no problem with your points about the 2 cars. You've stated several times, that the Genesis is a GT car vs. the Twins sports car. I fully agree with the statement and think both cars meet those respective standards well.

Here is another question in reference to the superior chassis argument. I don't find the twins to be too harsh and I daily mine with no issues (horrible winter pot holes and all). However, lets say I wanted the car to be softer. Wouldn't it be possible to change the suspension components to be softer and have the ride comfort equal to the Genesis and still manage to have a better handling car?

Why is it that people seems to compare engines that are no where near close to each other. 2.0 NA vs a 2.0 Turbo, or the 3.6 NA V6. Of course it's going to have more horsepower stock!

It really just depends what you're after.

The same can be said for the Genesis Coupe if you're after increased handling while maintaining the power.

And it is a FANTASTIC GT car for the money. Dollar for dollar as an example, a comparably equipped Lexus (against my '14 3.8 GT) IS350 is $46K, and its still underpowered!! I paid like $34K OTD.
Yeah, every few years I hear about how fantastic the Hyundais are. Like since 1999. In another couple decades, they might be the equal of a Pontiac. If the cars were really so much better, there would be better residuals.

That's your entire argument? Residual value? And here you are talking about American muscle cars.

Just leave this thread, this is embarrassing.

2008 when I looked at one. Before they redid the suspension because they did such a crap job the first time around.

I did look at another Korean-made car, a Chevy Aveo. My goodness, what a turd. From the lot, it had a bad alignment and a seat belt that was broken. Talk about quality.

Washington Generals.

Yea, I understand that. Let me rephrase what I'm trying to ask. Given the two cars (Twins & Genesis) if you equalize comfort, be it make the Twins softer or the Genesis harsher. Which, will have better performance handling after said mods.

It's fair to be said that, still, the twins would have better handling performance, but the car would lose its personality.

Yea, that's my thinking and the reason I believe chassis superiority goes towards the twins, but yes definitely would ruin the twins personality and someone wanting to go that route probably picked the wrong car to begin with.
