the launch

GPS Speed
RPM
Throttle
RL wheel speed
RR wheel speed

red car has 235 semi fresh R1Rs
blue car has 225 old Z1s

noteworthy points:

RPM, 5500 vs 3500
Throttle, as you can see the red car did not dump the clutch, I gently engaged while feathering the throttle and managing slip

Did you know that if you press the space bar you get full page. That is, it hides the "measures and laps" column.

yes... but it's not something I intended for this presentation. my screen realestate is triple that, I just focused down on the first segment.

i'll make sure to hide them for you next time.

Very interesting, especially coming off our discussion in the other thread. Thanks a bunch for posting.

Do you think the difference in acceleration was due to blue car bogging on the launch? Doesn't look like it got any wheel slip to keep the revs up.

it was precisely because he bogged down the launch, or more to the point of starting out at a less than optimal RPM

however having started at the perfect RPM, I did have to manage the wheel spin, as you can see in the bottom graph, my wheels started to spike way too much, and I knew this ahead of time, hence the initial feather of the throttle

my buddy had no such problem and was WOT from the start, but because he was under his powerband there was no issue with wheel spin so it was just a gradual acceleration

Got it, thanks for confirming. Really shows the importance of keeping the revs up.

Now I wonder if a clutch dump vs clutch slip with no bogging is faster.

on stock clutch and street tires a dump is probably not worth it

if both were upgraded and you had a few spare axles in the paddock then by all means.

Agreed, probably why I am wanting to try a different launch now. Wasn't so worried on the stock Primacys, but as I'm getting into something a little stickier, didn't want to blow the diff or snap an axle.

Will try your recommended 5500~rpm clutch slip approach.
