I picked up my '14 FRS almost 2 weeks ago currently at 1400KM's and have noticed the following issues:

-Chirping when using 94, not so much with 91
-Audible knock under load for the first hundred KM's which I suspect might have been from poor quality fuel from dealer ( I worked for different car dealerships for years and know sometimes the part-time detailers don't always follow the recommeded fuel ) haven't heard since I put in my own gas.
-Rattle from cluster/dash area especially when hot outside and inside temps are much, much lower ( Suspect change in temps and contraction rates of materials inside changing ) If pressure applied to cluster and trim noise gone - needs felt tape fix
-Cold transmission 2nd gear is tricky but fine when warm
-Idle not smooth but not rough ( Not smooth compared to a Honda, but seems normal for a boxer - Owned many WRX's and Impreza's and boxers aren't smooth )
-When driving/cruising and series of bumps on road I feel a rattle through column and floor, seems worse in warmer weather or after driving for awhile ( Feels like possible chassis sway bar bushings too much play )
-Really annoying paint chip and sharp pinch on bottom of drivers door seam - Appears issue from factory as there is no damage on body side which would be the case if something got caught in door when shut.

I have to admit that I'm really anal when it comes to my belongings and suffer from serious OCD. Working in service at a busy Honda dealer and VW dealer for years I have dealt with all sorts of gripes, complaints and problems with customers cars when new and Honda makes a really great product with very little issues but nonetheless they still have problems, VW on the other hand... I couldn't believe the issues they had on new vehicles, specifically those made in Mexico. I would never spend the money VW wants on those vehicles considering how poorly assembled they are.

This being said, regardless of the issues I have with my FRS I consider them minor when I look at all of its strong points and price. I LOVE THIS CAR and most of the problems the dealer will solve or I will with replacement of upgraded parts evetually anyways. What it rewards me with smiles on a daily basis I'm pleased overall.

PS. From working in service for awhile, if you have issues with your car, document them with notes and pictures/video. Book an appointment with the dealer, be prepared to leave the car, be assertive, but don't be a ****. If the issues are difficult to explain take the tech for a ride and always, always be the customer who brings coffee (Trust me, small gestures like this go a long way)

I've got a bit over 8000 miles on mine. Just had it taken to the dealer yesterday.

I stopped at a stop sign after a little spirited driving and it stalled. I started it back up and tried to accelerate. Above 2000 rpms a very audible knocking sound came from the engine. The higher the rpms and the louder it got. I took my foot off the gas and it stalled when it tried to idle. It continued to stall on idle when I started it up again. So I disconnected the battery and reconnected it. Fixed the stalling problem, but it still has the knocking. I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow to see what's going on with it.

I miss my car.

Crickets isn't a bad thing, which most people believe. I know it comes on during idle because of the direct injection(DI). But it being a tuned boxer engine with DI is probably just a character trait of this platform.

I got crickets once I passed the first stage of the break-in period (~1,200 miles)

As for the taillights, I've said if my dealer doesn't fit the problem right the first time I'll try to get some type of refund or something idk to put towards the Toms tails

I've got 8600 miles on my '14 (bought brand new in april). Have crickets, but they go away when I get shell 93. Other than the tissue paper thin paint, really have zero complaints. Think this one's a keeper

Put 7500 miles on her in under 3 months. Crickets, creaks and rattles from "ok" build quality, clickity left axle that sound like it need replacing (tiny clicks before any mods, got worse), squeaky windows when it's humid, laggy and annoying navigation system.

But yet, not a single thing really bothers me, not a single regret . For me, it's all in the drive. I drove my old car for 2 days while doing some of my mod installs and it just felt so numb, even though I had no complaints about my old car. She has me spoiled

almost 2,500mi and no real issues. I've just recently (like last 50-100 miles) noticed the idle dip issue. However I think mine is fuel related, just filled up with a fuel brand I've never used in the car before. We'll see I guess.

7000+ Km

- sometimes crazy loud sounds (like modem connection) from front/left side before driver, around 6-7K RPM
- very often quite metal vibration sound (short) around 3K-4K RPM
- Sometimes rear seats, driver doors crickets...
- 3-4 Gear shift at 6K RPM crickets (probably synchro issue)
- Fuel pump tick tack sound, when idle (but probably even when i drive it)

Its pity, because otherwise car is perfect..

2700km with about 2 months of driving. No crickets, nothing.

A bit of rattling on the drivers side, but I'll have to investigate that. Nothing major, completely content.

other than crickets, I have had only one issue that the dealer had to fix which is common, the rear tail light aquarium issue. Replaced, no cost, no other issue so far

I have had the same issue twice, but everything has been OK since. I think it is fuel related, too.
