I have to let this motor break in a bit more before I will know. This is a brand new motor....Rob said it can take 3 weeks or so before they reach max efficiency.

Initial impressions are the 250 is stronger down low and the boost comes on quicker. The 250 also doesn't surge like the 300 does so that helps for smoother power delivery. You can see from the logs that even though the 250 isn't broken in it is getting almost the same numbers even on the top end.

Also with the 250 my voltage never drops below 23 which is better for recharge.

If I had to guess the 300 is good for 10 HP from 5500 to 7500 but will lose 15tq from 2500 to 5500 and it engages slower do you don't get that kick.

I will post more impressions as time passes. I posted logs on shivs thread.

Oh and shifting with the 250 at Wot is very sharp. Boost comes on right away in the next gear. Sometimes with the 300 I would feel a slight pause.

I wonder how much a ceramic wheel would cost?

Alright, first about Dynos - everyone is different, blah blah blah. A stock 2015 WRX does 220 on that dyno, a Stage 1 2006 did 180. Keep in mind these numbers (and most dyno numbers) are corrected for our crappy altitude. If I ran on a DynoDynamics unit in Vancouver it should be the same'ish. I don't get another 15% hp.

The stock car in the chart above is not mine, they just found one to compare with.

I also did 2 curiosity runs with the latest Shiv tune file, etc but with the Phantom turned OFF. The compressor is a obstruction obviously, and seems it costs about 10hp turned off. Also was curious how rich it would run with no boost.

Mods are Phantom 1.5 pack, Openflash Header, stock exhaust, openflash tablet (latest 1.5 91 flash) on 91 gas. I may try 94 next time but since it doesn't seem to be pulling timing, and I can't up the boost there's probably not much point.

And here's the Datalog file - adding boost was not clear, so it's not on the chart.

^ Great!
+ 23% Peak HP
+ 50% best delta TQ.

Yes with SC 'off', -10 HP @ high rpm, ~ 0 loss at ~ 5000 rpm (not enough constriction to become a restriction until higher rpms (flow)). This is where DR will compensate.

HP gains look pretty consistent across the band.

A little leaner up top might add a couple hp's.

Very good for an OTS tune.

Thks, Rob

Do you guys think it would hurt to take the cap off of the side of the intake box (the old resonator location where you drill the rivets out)? I realize that it would draw in some warmer air from the engine bay, but the air filter is still in line after that hole.

Assuming it would fit (haven't measured the area around the hole), you could also clamp something like this on there. That is, if you're worried about extra debris getting in:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/knn-rc-2580

Purpose: Amplification of sweet, sweet compressor noises.

Thoughts?

I don't think you would get anymore compressor noise but I could be wrong. I would love more induction noise.

If I had to spitball a non-scientific guess as to when it happens I'd say within a short time of engaging the ESC at a questionable (low-ish) RPM.

Anyone experiencing anything similar? @shiv@vishnu - am I correct that this fault code should be disabled by the OFT tune?

If you are sure that your header is not leaking, you can always just disable it.
Just to close the loop on this - I found this in another thread, posted by @shiv@vishnu on 6/24:

P0420 should have nothing to do with fuel formations or exhaust leaks.
The tune I've got right now was supplied to me in early Feb - do the current ESC tunes have P0420 disabled?

Here's my latest rear garnish.
I tried to apply Shiv's Vishnu Tuning sticker, but it sticks to the backing paper much better than it sticks to the car. I like to give credit where credit is due. The badge on the front is Toyota. I really have it backwards. Toyota should be on the back and Subaru should be on the front.

Cheers for the correction.
I remembered people were having leaks and shiv specifically said he was re-enabling the code. Perhaps this is no longer the case or it wasn't quite the same CEL, all good.
