Or you could have just purchased the adapter mentioned in this thread for ~$15 and not have to splice anything. I got mine from Crutchfield here: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120TOYU...s.html?tp=3486

I used this thing in my BRZ / ca-fi install.
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2SF64E/"]Amazon.com: Axxess AX-USB-35EXT USB + 3.5 Waterproof Cable w/ Covered Panel: Car Electronics[/ame]

I also used one of these to connect to the RCA ins on the ca-fi.
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001B8QUS6/"]Amazon.com: C2G / Cables to Go 40424 Stereo F/M RCA YCable (6Inch, Black): Electronics[/ame]

Fits perfectly.

TBH, I'd MUCH rather have an adapter for the OEM connector like in my STI so I don't have the OEM cable sitting unused behind the dash, but at least it looks good. The really sad part is I'm debating about running a second USB into the glovebox like the Canadians have since my HU has two USB ports.

For the second USB I did exactly that for the glove box, but just ran a 3ft extension with a female A connector on the end, I didn't bother mounting a jack. I had to drill a hole in the plastic above the glove box on the left side as I didn't want the cable to snake and get kinked anywhere from opening/closing the glove box. It was a couple years ago so can't remember exactly how I did it. I think I removed the glove box to get an easy angle. If you do that make sure the hole diameter will allow the connector to fit through.

I'll probably do something similar once I get the glovebox out of the car and see how everything pieces together. I just hate having a perfectly good OEM connector and cable just chillin' behind the dash. The HU I'm putting in now is probably not going to stay in too long and I don't know if its replacement will have 2 inputs or not. If not, I'll default to the glovebox location. I HATE exposed connectors and I don't use my phone as a music player. I really wish there was a pocket we could install with no start button and no USB connection.

What do you need me to get a pic of? I can get one of it installed from the front. It literally is just a "remove the old one and snap the new one in" operation. The new one will have a USB and 3.5mm ends. You'll plug these into your new HU. It really is that simple but I'll get a pic of whatever you need. I'll probably have to email the pic or something since Imageshack charges now. Booooo

a pic of how it sits in place would be nice to see how it looks compared with the factory effort.

have you thought about imgur for hosting images?
