The Q300 by itself is quiet indeed but it's a nicer, less obnoxious tone than the N1. Also, there are many other parts of the exhaust that you can change to make it louder. Catless front pipe will do the trick, will only set you back $200 or so

Mine was slightly too quiet also. I initially cut the resonator out of the q300 and straight piped it. That was too loud. I then installed a 12" vibrant resonator and its about perfect. This is paired with a revworks header and nameless catted/resonated FP.

If you have intentions later of a header, etc trust me keep what you have. Anything and almost everything else is LOUD. Lots folks go loud CBE then add then realize it's too loud. Starting quiet to me at least = easier

Only the uneducated would try to tune the sound starting from the back as well as dismissing performance for sounds only.

If i were you i would keep q300 and add front pipe later. As OICU812 said it is really easier to start with quiet and add than start louder and try to quiet it down.

To each their own, but spending money on quality stuff should always be kept in consideration. Since you're a college student, like myself, just pay the car off first and get a track pipe to get the extra sound from the exhaust. Yes, it won't be the "BEST" sounding sound, but it'll do and probably surprise you on how well it sounds. Also, it's rather wise to spend your money conservatively- pay off the car then start modifying your car. Anyways, digressing from all that mumbo jumbo, just make it simple by buying something like a USED Invidia N1 or Q300. Seriously, buy it used- it'll save your wallet and financial stability. Take into consideration that a cat back is just metal (most are stainless steel), along everything else out there. It's better to cheap out on the header back (front pipe, mid pipe, and axleback) and buy a QUALITY header- aka buy it brand new. At the end of the day, it's your money, your car... do the FUCK what you want to do to your car!

In all seriousness, if sound is the only concern, drill a few holes in the muffler will do, it's free.

If you can find a used exhaust, that's in good shape, that might be a better option vs a brand new one.
