Years ago Pennzoil posted a PDS for the old Ultra 0W20. The oil never existed.
Right now, PUPP 0W20 can be purchased online at Amazon. It purportedly will be shipped in six weeks. Stand by to get those refunds.

bluesubie, thank you for replying in the other thread. I will have a carefully worded response later.NOACK. VI. GroupIII. Group IV. Applications. Specs. VOAs. UOAs. OCIs. Base stocks. Add packs. etc. Very interesting. It's all just motor oil banter and I can't get enough.

I've used PP since i've owned my si with 5 miles on it and my tsx since i've owned it with 76k on it. the si is at 130k miles now, it's had a rev limiter that's 400-800 rpms higher than stock for 110k miles that it's seen every single day and my last compression test was 215-220 on every cylinder.

Yeah, i'll stick with this oil.

and in the 40k miles since i've owned the tsx the PP has significantly cleaned up that motor. Less oil staining. And since that's about all that happens in a k series motor (very well designed, no sludging, minimal to almost no deposits anywhere) i can't say a bad thing about PP at all.

Did i mention a 5 quart jug is 27.99?

I can't take it anymore. I just went to Pep Boys and purchased four quarts of Pennzoil Platinum Ultra with PurePlus 5W20. I will dump out my Mobil1 Extended Performance 0W20 a bit early, this weekend and pour in the Pennzoil. In my application and driving conditions, it should be good for a 20k mile OCI. I am out of the UOA posting business, but will try to give you all some feedback. Maybe I will go to Blackstone and type in a report.

I do have a question. My autopart store gave me the 5 gallon jug that had the new pure plug logo but they also have me the old bottle for the 1qt. Should i take the qt back to the store and replace it with the new labeling or is it all the same?

Our cars take more than four quarts.

They are compatible but different. I would take it back and get all new Platinum.

Yes. I need four quarts. Capacity, oversized oil filters, and even drain pan size and shape, can be factored in for all applications.

Don't be concerned. The maximum allowed NOACK is 15% so PUP is under that.

PUP 5W-20 is 10.5. Why are you worried about the cold cranking viscosity at -35C or -30C in California anyway??! And since Amsoil Signature Series is not API or ILSAC certified, a more appropriate comparison would be to Amsoil XL. The Amsoil XL 0W-20 has a NOACK of 12.5% and 5W-20 XL has a NOACK of 9.9%.

Stop dumping good oil! You definitely have the sickness! You're going to become like me and try everything under the sun!

Here's my list from my Forester:

Mobil 10W30 (API SL, back in the old days)
German Castrol 0W-30 original green formula
German Castrol 0W-30 gold formula
Red Line 5W-30
Amsoil SSO 0W-30 2x
Amsoil DEO 5W-40
Pennzoil Ultra 5W-40
Motul X-Lite 0W-30
Motul Eco-nergy 5W-30
Motul X-cess 5W-40
Motul 300V 0W-40
Mobil1 0W-40 (API SM)
Mobil1 0W-40 (API SN)
Mobil1 10W-30 High Mileage

And a few short runs on dealer installed Subaru synthetic (or whatever they used before the Subaru oil) after engine/turbo work. I think that's it. That's all that I can remember off the top of my head. There might be more.

The SAE left the NOACK threshold at 15% going from SM to SN. New Ultra has a NOACK twice as high as the old Ultra. Yet, Pennzoil makes even loftier claims about the new formula. SOPUS must have made some interesting determinations when they tested the new Ultra.

I am pouring in PUPP 5W20 this 4th of July Holiday and will provide a 15k mile OCI UOA report in a couple of months. This will be a good starting point. As always, your results may vary. This oil is a little too thick in my opinion, but it will certainly be able to sustain the 86 engine like new. I believe the new Pennzoil Platinum Ultra with PurePlus 5W20 will be perfect for GDI engines.

Wow. That's the "worst" (biggest) list I have ever seen. LOL.LOL. I feel sorry for your daughter with her car. Bet you change her oil every weekend. Let her just drive. Please.

What? No Belgian Castrol? No Amsoil EFM 5W40?

My M1 EP is coming out early, at around 9k miles, albeit with very extensive idling.
The real problem is that Pennzoil has and continues to tease us about Ultra 0W20. At Pep Boys yesterday, my rare score of PUPP 5W20 was prolly the last four quarts of this product to be seen around here for a while. Of all the PBs I have staked out, this is it!

BTW, I have pilgrimaged to the Red Line Oil factory on three, memorable occasions. They are a local company. RL 0W20, D4, and SI 1 are on my list.

I used the original German Castrol, the one that was proven by Terry Dyson to be exceptional (then they reformulated it). The PU 5W-40 was sent to me for free by Pennzoil. I might try it again if someone runs a sale on it.

The RS usually gets Pennzoil conventional 5W-30. Although, now it has PP 5W-30 since it was in sale. The naturally aspirated EJ Subaru's are the least fussy engines about oil on the planet!

Platinum Ultra with PurePlus 0W20 is now listed as "currently unavailable" on Amazon. Previously it was stated that this exact product was available and would be shipped out in 6 weeks.

Does this product exist?
