I was just wondering what everyone thought about this new oil. I personally used Mobil 1 Extended performance. I can't seem to find a oil analysis on it either.

I just did a oil change on my 07 Tahoe that has 180 000 miles on and have been on synthetic oil since new with the pennzoil and so far love it seems like I got a little better gas mileage but will look more into it on my drive back from NY to FL.... might have to try it in the BRZ

The old PU had a low low, NOACK , near Amsoil or Red Line. It ran clean.

I expect the new PU, PUPP, (Platinum Ultra w/ PurePlus) to be even better, inspite of it's higher NOACK.

As someone who drives 100k miles per year and 600k miles per engine/vehicle, I am concerned about two things: intake valve deposits and piston ring coking. My 2 million+ miles of experience has taught me that. For me, PUPP will shine, unfortunately in 5W20.

I put it in my BRZ on my last oil change. 400 miles later, I have 20 more horsepower, dropped 20 pounds and my girlfriend is now a supermodel. ITS AMAZING!

LOL. Do I detect some genuine Pennzoil love from the MoreTool crowd?

I don't care if you use Pennzoil Platinum Ultra with PurePlus to baste your turkey.

And it won't shear either. Not temporary shearing or permanent shearing. I hope you score some.

My point was that its just another oil. So far, so good. I'm not expecting anything to happen, good or bad.

I'm glad you have the wit to match, though

Sure. Can't explain. Just having fun. I have a weird obsession about motor oil.

Would you like to hear about the tenacity of boron?

If you can be more specific, I will be glad to try to explain, sir.

I just responded in your Mobil1 0W-20 threadjack.:) Well, I suppose it's not really a threadjack since oil threads usually cover 17 different topics.

Google Gas To Liquid base stocks as well as checking out the Pennzoil Q&A in that link. Pennzoil has actually been using these base stocks since 2013, even though the label didn't change until recently.

I would be concerned about the high NOACK% numbers of the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum . At 12.5% (for 0W-20), it is much higher than the NOACK% number for the AMSOIL Signature 0W-30 of 7.6%.

the platinum is easy to find.. but the ultra platinum is still impossible to find for 0w20..
