It uses port injection when starting, DI only at low load, port and DI at high load in the low to mid range, and DI only at high load, high rpm

makes sense. so when people go FI and they get a better fuel pump, they're not replacing the HPFP, just the regular one right?

sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand my car

I'm not being an ass I swear, but doesn't this car require 93? I know it's unrelated to the fuel pump, but I've been putting 93 into my car since I bought it. I was under the impression it requires premium fuel only.

owners manual says something like, if you use 91 it does not affect reliability.

93 is not available in all parts of the country. I think the person you quoted lives in nanny state California, where 91 is the highest octane rating available by state law.

Correct, and at the moment anyone replacing injectors are only replacing the port injectors.

State law restricts what additives can be put in Cali fuel. The combination of those laws plus high demand for premium fuel is what limits the octane. There are places where one can buy unleaded race fuel in Cali, however, it's quite expensive.

The more I learn about California, the less likely I'm ever to go there.

Is E85 as bad for the engine as everyone claims though? I ask because I'm taking my car to get a few dyno runs in. Saw the posts about the modest performance increase by remapping to E85. Was excited to have the shop remap the car until my buddies started screaming at me about how bad E85 is for engines and fuel lines. Is there any validity to their worries?

Feeling like everything is bad for a car these days!

I'm six months plus e85 and no issues
quite a few have used it much longer, with a few threads saying to increase oil change over , but no problems i have read of

the only problem is cold starts, not sure how cold it is in your parts
and i think it really only gets u if you E85 is really E85
I'm pretty sure i have a good quality stuff

i have a dealer visit soon so will convert back to cricket liquid , and await the inevitable infestation, plague

Who is everyone? I'm at 9, 000miles e85 on this car and more on others. Sounds like people talking out their ass about something the know nothing about.

Literally every single friend I've talked to. Maybe it's another one of those Conservative Western Pennsylvanian old wives tales. They aren't really green-leaning around here and I could see how they would balk at a fuel that's more ethanol based.
