I will not purchase a FWD car by choice. Out of necessity, maybe if no other options exist.

Three 3 cars I considered were:

1. 370z- I would be able to own it very comfortably buttttt i would not be able to modify it cause that would be too much lol So of course I couldnt not get a vehicle I cant afford to modify.

2. RX-7 FD (dream car) I couldnt justify it being my DD and only vehicle, when i own a FD I want it to be my Garage Queen.

3. BRZ- BECAUSE SUBARU! Still mad to this Day for not getting the BRZ instead of a FRS lol "live and learn"

....................Ohhhhhhh thats Righhhhhhhhht?!, none of those are FWD

Im not knocking FWD, Ive owned a Blacked out NHBP 05 DC5 and I loved it great gas mileage, looks badass, easy maintainence, FWD just isnt for me

I was looking for a economical daily driver about a year and a half ago. Wanted an 86, but ended up going with a MINI for much cheaper. Drove it for a year. Traded it in on a FRS with 5k miles. Never liked the FWD dynamics at all.

After being disappointed by the driving experience in both Velosters I just went ahead and bought an FR-S. I realized I wasn't going to be happy with anything else. I never tried the Fiat or Volvo.
NONE.
RWD or AWD are the way to go.

I was looking into a '06 Civic Si or '05-'06 Acura RSX, only for the simple fact that those cars are EXTREMELY easy to make fast.. Unlike these FR-S's ... Damn, why didn't Toyota team with Honda and drop a K series in these things

I didn't consider anything FWD. Ideally I never again will buy another FWD car. It is true that when cars are light (<3000lb) and have less than 250 hp the power train configuration isn't as important for great performance. But the heavier and more powerful you get the more a FWD power train's internet flaws show themselves.

I love my Integra GS-R. But last time I checked nobody currently makes a 2600lb hatchback with ~170hp and an 8000 redline that still returns 33 mpg hwy.

2014 Mazdaspeed3 - Had one look at the front of the car, instant pass.

2014 WRX - Was too long to fit in my garage comfortably, MPG not so good. Didn't know the 2015 was going to be such an improvement, would have bought that.

2013 Civic Si - 14' wasn't out yet, couldn't find one to test drive on all three Honda dealers lots on the island. The 2014 doesn't look very eye pleasing, so no regret there.

Haha, so true. A buddy from work has a deal with his wife where he'll agree to her having a horse if he could have a RWD sports car in return. They have neither of those things yet, and he refused to drive my BRZ no matter how much I offer for fear of giving into the temptation (although he does have a nice stable with a previous gen Civic Si, Integra, and Mini).

My FWD experience is tainted from driving Camries for ~15 years Therefore RWD was a deal-breaker for me when shopping around.

The previous gen Civic Si has some nice little touches with the short throws, shifter slightly angled toward the driver, short clutch travel, and revving to 8000rpm was fun yo. Too bad it was raining when I tried it so I was taking it pretty easy. As someone who likes fun cars, I would love to try the Ford STs (especially the Fiesta), Mini, and Abarth just to see what the fuss is about. Torque steer doesn't sound like something I'd find entertaining though....

None as I came from an Impreza. I would have probably tried to score an STi- although new WRX makes a compelling argument. If I could have a second DD that had to be cheap, I would have gone for the Fiat 500 or Abarth (considering how cheap I'm seeing them go for). I drove the regular 500 and had a blast. Kind of like the R53 Mini Cooper...

The Fiesta ST is an absolutely amazing car, I actually put money down on one and the dealer ended up being shady about even being able to get one, locally. So I went to Toyota and here I am.

The FR-S just looks so much better than the fiesta, somehow that little 1.6 engine with a mini snail was so much fun.

Both cars are great, either one would have made me happy.

Camero and Challanger. If I wasn't going to get a rear wheel drive sportscar, I was gonna get some all-American muscle.

The rear wheel drive sportscar won out though.

The FR-S has been my post-divorce car. I had a 2012 Toyota Corolla that we both were on the loan. She wanted off the loan and I was looking at something with a larger engine (V6) but was essentially the same car. I had my heart set on a 2014 fully loaded Toyota Camry.

Walked by the Whiteout 2014 Scion FR-S and it dawned on me. Why am I single and buying another family car? Test drove that FR-S and drove it off the lot with keys in hand with a whopping 6 miles on the ODO.
