Sound deadening rear seat

Has anyone try putting a layer of MLV inside the back seat? Not talking about the under the rear seat but inside the seat fabric to help block off noise from the trunk. Would it make any noticeable sound difference?

I actually did this a few days ago. It is very easy to do. I installed deadener in the whole trunk as well, so I can't answer if doing only the rear seat will make much of a difference.

Not to jack your thread OP, but @Terrapin77, how did you unfasten the fabric on the back of the rear seat? I was going to do this but was afraid I would screw it up.

I've done the rear seat as well. I notice a slight difference in noise, but not much. Every bit helps

i believe the most effective way is to layer the rear deck, the rear seat back, and below the rear seat, creating a whole boundry from the muffler. ive done under the seat, and the rear speaker deck, and it was noticeable. i still have to do the back of the seat but i ran out of sound deadner. its noticebe when i have the seat folded down or up, so im sure a layer of sound deadening on the seat back can only help further.

the clips around the side edges just pup up with a little force, and then slide it in from the side, poke some holes through the mlv for the clips, then button it back down.

1. Pop out the 4 black push pin clips
2. Unhook the long clip at the bottom of the seat. It runs almost the length of the seat. Start on one side and work your way to the other side.
3. Each side is held in by 3 clips. While pulling on the them, use a small flat head screwdriver to pop them out.
4. Cut MLV to fit the seat.
5. Cuts holes in MLV to reinsert the clips. Dont' forget to cut the holes for the seat latches.
6. Use contact cement or spray adhesive to secure MLV to the seat frame.
7. Put seat back together and install in car.

I've done almost all my car with cascade audio products. MLV and direct sound matting and Vmax. I can say as I did it in steps that the mass majority of road noise blocking came from doing the cavities below two rear seats. That audibly was most noticeable improvement.
