I've always been okay with swaps. I just personally wouldn't do it to the twin specifically. I'd rather do it to an older car with older suspension/handling tech and older crap engine. The twin is good as is imo (with some FI or NA mods) and I think its' factory balance, low COG and handling is special. Though it'd still be cool, don't get me wrong. I'd rather just get an awesomer, well built, super reliable car that is factory quality/DDable, etc. than to spend 20-40k on a brand new Twin for an insane build that'll be loud, noisy, unfactory, prone to problems, lots of troubleshooting, hardly dd'able, etc. But for a 60s-80s classic car..I'm all for it.

..to me, It'll be a lot more fun to track or DD a stock Porsche 911 with nice coilovers, than to track a full custom twin with an LSx swap and trying to work out the bugs, bolts flying off, a forgotten piece here or there, dialing it in every minute instead of enjoying it. Basically, I'd be enjoying and actually driving the car...instead of trying to fix it non stop.

If I had the money to do a fully custom car with some crazy swap for showing off to people, it'd be a 60s-80s classic car most likely (heck, even a 90s car). To me, it's lot more interesting and exciting than doing it to a brand new twin.

How do you get all that 430hp/tq NA power down too on a Twin ? 315+ tires? Will those work well with the stock suspension bits? I'm sure sht wll get fcked up, suspension-geometry wise. Then you still need RB fenders to cover those huge tires, lol.

A rotary with all the turbo stuff weighs only a tad bit less than an LS3, and is significantly less reliable. A 2JZ or RB is quite a bit heavier, and will shift your CG further forward and up than an LS will.

Because you can have the swap done professionally, pay for all parts/labor and still spend less than 1/4 of what you would for the aforementioned cars. This is assuming you mean any Porsche that's worth a damn. Its for people who aren't rich but want the performance. A V8 powered twin is friggin amazing, affordable, and doesn't depreciate by hundreds of dollars every time you take it out for the weekend.

I would also like to add the availability and massive amounts of LS and derivative LS's out there in late model cars and trucks that fill junkyards across America.

If anyone is interested there is, as we speak, a company with huge credentials making a bolt in staged kit that wont require major surgery to your FT86, integration with the can bus system, which means all factory gauges work. Its not available yet but they anticipate selling quite a few.

Not to mention a truly insane level of aftermarket support for those engines.

This is relevant to my interests. When I saw the first LS swap, I knew that would be my backup plan if a turbo FA20 proves too unreliable.

But, once you have all of it said and done...it won't really be an easy no fuss street DD car cuz it won't be smog legal (of course, you can always find someone and pay extra to get an illegal smog; but I'm over that lol) ...it'll be basically a racecar/toy that you drive on the streets.

So...where the videos, pics, links?

I guess the "go-to motor" these days (or at least in this thread) is cutting to the chase and just using a powerful LSx, and not an RB or 2JZ anymore? ...why are the majority of drift Twins in the States and in Japan using 2JZ engines, and not the LSx like everyone is advertising and hyping in this thread?

I'd love to see some videos. 2JZ powered twins (or any car really lol) is pretty darn common...so let's see some LSx powered twins (or other similar weighted/designed import cars with LSx engines)

Joe drifter has a supercharged ls3 here in Atlanta. You can youtube it. 2jzs are great but the ls is about the same weight and offers more hp per dollar.

It seems most drift guys already have a built 2jz lying around before this chassis came out. In a year or two youll see more ls swapped twins in drift.
