If at seven and a half months you have driven less than 7,500 miles, you should obtain maintenance at seven and a half months - don’t wait until 7,500 miles. Src |

Thank you everyone for your responses! I feel a little bit more comfortable now and any brands you guys recommend for the next time I get an oil change?

The factory recommended interval is:1st oil change by 7500 miles or 7.5 months. So technically the OP went too long in time, not miles. |

I just use the Toyota synthetic stuff. I remember reading somewhere that it's decent stuff.

Ask any knowledgable Tech what they do on their personal vehicles. Bottom line it's very cheap insurance to do this early oil change once... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I merely asked if you could provide a reference to your information regarding this car. |

Did I wait to long to get an oil change?
You break in a new/rebuilt motor with more of a conventional oil so the rings have a chance to seat properly in the cylinders. If you change the oil to quickly you have not only wasted that oil change you will also have premature engine wear by changing to a full synthetic oil as the motor didn't really get a chance to break in properly. Adding ZDDP=Zinc, is more a thing that was done to old school motors with different lubrication than today's cars. Basic engine building theory applies to all vehicles...

Don't worry. Oil and oil change interval theory is similar to witch's brew. Everyone has a broomstick between their legs.

Certain "experts" chime in with an opinion and nothing but hearsay to back it up. The FACT is that the manufacturer tells you when to change it and if you return to the dealer too many miles before the specified mileage (or duration) they will tell you to go away and come back when you reach that number. My opinion of most of the "expert opinions" you recieve on the internet: "The internet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhea -- massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind-boggling amounts of excrement when you least expect it" |

@neilr. Well, there she blows I guess. Funny because an engineer that works at Toyota and designs the Camry motors told me the factory oil is specific for the break in period. Although, I waited too long per instructions of manual. But my car is running like a top. Guess I will count down to detonation.
I was also reading in Honda forums about my old CBR 600RR and it was not recommended to change the factory oil too son based on the same reasons most of us has rationalized in this thread. |

Per the manual, 7500 miles or 7.5 months under normal driving. Repeated short distance driving and/or extremely cold weather, 3,750 miles or 3.75 months.
