What sort of header configuration were you running?
Are you pairing left head on one turbo, or both fronts on one and rears on the other? |

Maybe take it up another notch of having 1 turbo per inlet manifold? 1 bank on the left and the other on the right? Twin throttle with trumpets inside or inlet manifold to twin throttle body on both sides per each intake valve? What about Motec N1?

On the technical side of the fence I can chime in a bit. FAT has probably the smallest fan I have used out of any local dyno blowing down on the car. This car had fairly consistent IAT's rising no more than 10-12C during a pull. This is pretty average from a number of setups I have tested. I didn't keep too much of an eye on heat soak with the hood open as we all know that wont represent much. The only time the pipes got truly warm was with the engine off with no air flowing through. The air flowing through the upper charge pipe(s) were keeping the pipe sufficiently cooled while idle. The fan temp triggers were set very low on this setup to keep the IAT at a constant cool temperature. This is a show piece that is quite functional. I am sure that with the track abuse that @fst86frs typically does (he doesn't just hard park his cars, hence why I dialed his tune back a bit but kept the higher powered one on a second map) he will heat soak a bit more. But they are planning on furthering things by ceramic coating and wrapping as much as possible to keep things cool.
The turbos spooled extremely linear. Very smooth pull in not a surge like most setups do. There was no boost controller so I wasn't able to hold a solid flat boost target all the way to redline. Even with this it did hold a very linear and smooth HP graph. The turbos were kicking in quite nicely at roughly 3,800-4,000RPM with a 2.5" catback. The car was originally tuned on MAF and was one of the easiest maf's I have tuned. Once we passed ~5-7PSI though the AFR became less consistent as the air flow started to change more than I would like when trying to push for power. I am pretty sure I could have done 100% MAF tune but I would have had to been much more conservative on timing as the AFR wasn't 100% perfect which is normal on forced induction setups with a blow through maf. Even at 10-11PSI their maf was still only picking up 4.7-4.8V. Compared to other setups I have done the car needed more timing to make similar power. However the car was able to take a fair bit of timing considering. And in the end the power was actually fairly smooth all around. These turbos basically instantly made 2-3 PSI at almost any PSI and load and then "slowly" crept up to 10 psi. I am sure on the street it felt fairly close to a centrifugal setup. I only drove the car on the dyno with a fixed load value to get a feel for how it ran (and to test abusive driving habits) and it was actually quite responsive (and it sounded pretty damn cool too!) As much as people are hating, the fabricator at FAT really knows what is up and really does understand now to work with a MAF. When I first saw the car in person I told them that it is never going to idle and they just need to accept that and that it will likely be SD only and I was as far off from accurate as I could be when I made that statement. lol It really is a cool unique setup. Its not so much my cup of tea but I love seeing unique setups! Also mind you the owner of this car literally had a 3071R sitting on his desk to install on his car but at the last minute they decided to just do something completely outrageous which is pretty normal over at FAT. Hell hanging from the celling there is a good 3-4 twin turbo subaru setups just on display in their bay.

I kept egging the shop owner to let me pour E85 in it too as the gas light came on literally as I was just tidying up the tune for daily use. You guys really ought to keep a damn barrel of E85 there! You had damn near every other fuel sitting there!!!

04 Subaru 2.0 twin turbo B4 in japan, 280 hp feels pretty damn good if you ask me, yes it has a lower compression ratio, but for all those who say, why a twin turbo? Not needed? If you ask me, it makes a pretty damn daily driver.
