V8 s13s are a great and entertaining toy. "Handle like shit" is a relative term. Baja trucks might handle like shit to you but work for what the driver wants. V8 s13s or swapped twins are violently fun if you enjoy hooning about. If you're after lap times obviously you're right and its a waste. But some people just want unique, ridiculous, violent, near uncontrolable power to weight and damn the lap times.

To me, it's not about having a fast car, it's about making your car fast.

I can buy a Corvette, F-type S, Boxster GTS, M4 etc in addition (because I can’t imagine selling it and anyway it costs less than 25% of any of the above mentioned cars) to my GT86 without much trouble to my budget but my Hachiroku keeps the “car enthusiast” part of me so satisfied for over 1.5y already because of the never ending tuning process, so I simply don't want another "toy" car. So, despite money spent on GT86’s tuning on literally weekly basis, it effectively saves me from buying new, much more expensive "amusement" cars – like methadone therapy instead of heroine

How about a Porsche Turbo Flat-4?

http://wot.motortrend.com/1406_we_he...10_360_hp.html

Quote:
According to the report, the new engines will feature turbochargers and direct injection, and will produce impressive power figures for their size. Horsepower reportedly ranges from 210 hp for the 1.6-liter, to 286 hp for the 2.0-liter, with the range topped-off by a 360 hp 2.5-liter engine. The 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter will produce 295 lb-ft and 347 lb-ft of torque, respectively. The next-generation Boxster and Cayman will likely be the first models to use the new 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter flat-4 engines.
10 years from now that could be a reasonable/functional/unique swap assuming it fits.

One comment, it irks me when someone refers to an LSx engine as a huge engine just because they see the liters number... It's not very big at all. In fact, it doesn't really add much weight at all. Cam-in-block may be considered "old tech", but it allows the engine to remain compact and aluminum block keeps the weight down. Fully dressed weight of the LS3 with all accessories on it (as configured in a C6 vette) is around 450 lbs. and not much bigger a package than an I4, just wider, which is why it can be swapped into virtually anything.

I was referring it's size to liters as opposed to our boxer.

Fair enough. Just pointing out a LSx vs a DOHC style engine is a huge difference in overall engine package size.

In all honesty though, the one swap I would love to do, even if most people would think it was silly, is a bridgeported 13B turbo. I'm wondering if there is one of these around PR already.

I think the 2.0l at 286/295 would be perfect for this car. But if I was going through all the work of a swap I would probably just go for the 2.5l. It really depends how those new engines sound. If it's anything like their flat sixes then HELL YES!

Fuck it, just pull the V4 from the 919 and use that.

What I want to know is how they get 295 tq and only 286 hp from a sports car engine...rev limit at 5252 rpm...? Booo

I know the LS V8 engines are only a few pounds heavier than our boxer engines.

Add a supercharger or turbo to our boxer engines and now you're at the same weight as an LS swap.

Porsche flat 6 engines are not light if I remember correctly. Even the older air cooled flat 6 engines were heavy.

Something other than an LS/JZ swap would be more unique IMO, I like the idea of a Bridgeported 4 rotor rotary. THAT would be sick!
