RS3, far from R compound but sticky. Glad I did go 245 on these wheels.

to the OP, how much did you lower car? what are your spring rates? have you tried changing the dampening settings?

FYI, I have +35mm offset and I am lowered 1.5" all around. I have the similar camber -3.0 Front and -2.7 Rear. You should definitely try raising the car up a bit and change it to 17x9 +35 RPF1, any particular reason you picked 17x8 +42 over the 17x9 +35? since slightly wider wheels definitely improve the mechanical grip
I am only dropped 10mm front and rear, on 346/346 springs. Ohlins dampers were at 7F 6R. I chose 42mm because I dont like the wheel coming that far out of the fender.

235/45 odd.

My first thought when I read your first post was the height of your tires. I would run a 235/40 instead of a 45 series.

But your question was what is a good wheel size and offset?
Start at +35. Whether 8 or 9" wide, it's a great offset for our cars. 17x8 +35 with a 245/40R17 would be a good combo, or run a narrower tire like a 235/40 or 225/45 tire.

Btw, why so much camber? Are you tracking, autocross or just street? You may want to consider trimming back your camber to closer to -2 to -2.5.

Track and autox, I was running -2.1 in front and was not enough.
I will look at 35 wheels next and 245/40

One has to remember that not all manufacturers 235/40s are the same width. They should be by definition, but they are indeed not so.

So annoying. Is the solution a lower offset like 40? Or what?
Raise the height, or use a small spacer. It's bound to happen with enough compression; I see it on almost every track car.

that should definitely help since you're overall height of the tires are 25.4" compared to 24.7" OEM size.. like I said I have been running 235/40/17 and those are about .3" shorter than the OEM size ..even still front tires rub at certain corners , I will also try raising the car a bit but in your case it may not be needed after changing the tires..

FYI, 255/40/17 Nitto NT01s are still closer to the OEM size 24.92" and I think you should definitely benefit since you auto-x with a SC kit and people at rennlist forums run them to the cords and flip them if the outside wear is more than the inside haha

It's not about the offset issue. You need to raise the car a bit. Trust us, we've burned through the liner too.

I don't think anybody mentioned that one of these vehicles might have more positive toe with regards to their alignment settings. That would possibly explain why the +44 offset member isn't rubbing inside while the +42 one is. Naturally section widths from manufacturer to manufacturer will vary, even though they say they are the same size.
