Quick Offset Question

I have RPF1 17x8 42 offset with 235 tires. Now that i have -3 camber up front thr wheel is rubbing on inside fender liner near brake line when under harder turns.

So annoying. Is the solution a lower offset like 40? Or what?

well correct me if im wrong but a lower offset would actually create more poke and cause the wheel to be pushed closer to the fender. You would most likely want a higher offset to tuck the wheel in more a bit. it also depends on the sidewall percentage of the tires you are running

He's rubbing on the inside of the wheel well, closer to the strut than the outside of the car based on his description.

oops read that wrong. then yes a lower offset would be the solution. im not sure if 2 mm is actually going to make the difference between rubbing and not rubbing. you could also try reducing the camber by a bit and see if the rubbing stops.

3mm spacers are pretty cheap and will fit on OEM studs, you might try that to see if it helps.

Want to replace wheels with correct offset and width, so was asking what size would be better.

I am not sure that a +40 will be enough. I would look at +35s.

So weird... I have RE30s 17x8" +44 with 235/40-17 tires, and with -2.5 camber up front I have zero issues with rubbing at the track.

You and I run the same suspension... I can't believe it makes that much difference, unless you're running sticky R-compounds.

I had some rubbing issues yesterday that I never experienced in another track before so it really depends on the track and the compression on the springs ..Just because you didn't experience any rubbing issue so far doesn't mean you have no issues

to the OP, how much did you lower car? what are your spring rates? have you tried changing the dampening settings?

FYI, I have +35mm offset and I am lowered 1.5" all around. I have the similar camber -3.0 Front and -2.7 Rear. You should definitely try raising the car up a bit and change it to 17x9 +35 RPF1, any particular reason you picked 17x8 +42 over the 17x9 +35? since slightly wider wheels definitely improve the mechanical grip

Do you have 235/45 tyres? If so, going down to a 235/40 will probably be the cheapest way (other than a slip on spacer) to solve this.

I have nothing to offer, but this is a timely post.

This has me curious how little negative camber you can get away with in +35 before issues arise at the fender. I'd been pondering the Alleggerita with 245's and while that maxes at an 8" it is available both +35 and +48... I'm likely deluding myself when I think I might get back into AutoX seriously again, but while that delusion lives... This suggests the +35 is the way to go.

Yes, I know I should get RFP1 in a 9" but the acid green is calling my name...
