No worries, I perfectly understand what you are saying, that's why I am in this dilemma

I have never thought of this! Thanks!

I could afford it, it's just, since I have paid corolla in full, there isn't any more of monthly payment to deal with.
But if I were to get a new car, even with couple thousand downpayment, couple hundred dollars that I could have saved(for what? I dont know, perhaps for my future...) monthly will simply be gone away as a payment again...

That's because even though Corolla is legally his, I paid everything. He didn't want to risk my credit because I was barely entering college back then so he took it under his name.

Go for a test drive, at this point you're asking "hey is this thing cool enough to spend money on?"

We have zero idea if it will be anything other than a status symbol to you, a status symbol that could be a noisy, harsh riding, impractical, nuisance that you sell a year from now for a huge loss that it sounds like you really don't want to cope with. Maybe you'll fall in love, go to track days and autocross. Maybe it'll be a nifty commuter, we have zero idea what you'd enjoy.

Figure out what you want before you ask other people what you want, hell you might be better off leasing a BMW or buying a Miata for $5000 or sticking with the Camry or maybe a Camaro will get you hot and heavy.

Basically what you've done is posted up, "hey guys I've been wearing size 9 shoes, do you think size 13 is worth the cost?" or "I've always gotten an americano at starbucks, should I spend the extra $4 on the frilly-frou-frou caramel whizzbang?"

Thanks for your response.
I think I should keep my corolla..

25 year old college graduate and yet you still can't figure out your own finances and priorities and have to ask an internet forum?? Your parents, and society in general, have coddled you too much.

As stated before, if you have to even ask, the answer is "no".

Obviously most all of us weighed our options and circumstances and bought a BRZ.

I hope this is just a troll thread.. I really do..

I'd stick with Dadhawks idea, pay yourself the montly payment in a savings account you won't touch, in 3-4 years buy the car outright and enjoy the long hard road you've walked down supporting your family.
Having a Coupe won't be any less practical than having a sedan because I only live with my Dad. But then again, that's not what matters the most in your response, I thank you for your response!

You are right, the question is very personal-related, and things like this really depends on personal preference..
I just wanted to see what the general response would be from more experienced people
Thank you once again!

No it's not.

Although I have never got to own one, I really like BRZ.
That's why I wanted to ask BRZ owners' honest opinion.

Of course, "saving is better", it's as simple as that, but if that's the ultimate answer to every financial related matters, nobody would be driving any new cars you know what i mean.
So I was wondering about what the actaul BRZ owners had to say.

Thank you for your earlier response though.

But what concerns me the most is "would it be worth it". I am not talking about BRZ but in general.

I am only 25 yro, but I have been supporting my family ever since I can remember. and this kind of living has set in my mind and whenever I spend my money, I always think about circumstances before myself.
But then to justify my change of mind, maybe I have been living that way too extreme.

I don't know, to be honest I just dont know much about cars other than paying for it. Honestly, if I were you, in your position with your interests...I would not buy the car.

Here are my reasons why:

1. You don't know much about cars, thus the BRZ will only be an accessory/transportation.

2. Going through your experiences of living and things you take responsibilities for, purchasing a new car when it is not needed is one of the worst financial choices you can make. Cars won't get more expensive over time, they only degrade. So if you really need a car, go for it, if you don't, then you shouldn't.

3. You aren't sure now. Seeking help from people won't justify your choices. Say we tell you that you should buy it, the next thing that could happen is regret. You NEED to be sure about a purchase as big as this. So sure that you don't need to ask the internet for opinions. Financially, on the long run, you might regret it and then you'll have no way out of it unless you transfer or sell it. Which is never good imo.

Of course there will be goods and bads but I think in your situation, you should step back and maybe save some money before actually making a choice and then find out what you really want/need.

edit: what @strat61caster said. Test drive the car, if you fall in love, it's meant to be ;3

-2009 Toyota Corolla LE 58,000miles
-2006 Mazda Frontier 160,000miles

Is it worth it to sell either of these to down-pay BRZ and finance it? or just drive either of cars to the ground? I want your honest opinion.

Thanks!
I regret not getting the car any sooner. now that I have the car I dont mod it as much as I would like. with a good relationship and soon for a family in a couple of years. I cant be spending money on this type of car. but you should know that if your getting this type of car your gonna end up putting more money into it as well. ive had debut before cause of rash purchases too. I learn that you just have to manage your money well. you dont stay young forever. everyone else says to drive the corolla for couple years. maybe later you wont even want a brz.. if it was me I'll get the brz.
