It is worth it to get BRZ?

Dear Community,

First of all, no offense to BRZ owners, I am asking a question specifically related to my circumstances.

Since I can't afford to buy the car with cash, I have to sell either one of these cars below that my dad own.
-2009 Toyota Corolla LE 58,000miles
-2006 Mazda Frontier 160,000miles

Is it worth it to sell either of these to down-pay BRZ and finance it? or just drive either of cars to the ground? I want your honest opinion.

Thanks!

Keep on driving your Dad's toyota corolla.

the question is...can you afford it monthly? You may not have the cash to pay it out right but do you work? Will your dad help? If those are yes and your parents are fine with it, then go for it. Whatever's reasonable and makes you happy.

P.S. make sure you have your priorities set. Is it okay that you have a 2 door coupe that only fits 2...or 3 if you're flexible? Do you need practicality for trunk space? Etc.

You have a pretty much new car. I'd say keep the Toyota. BRZ is fun don't get me wrong, but you have a 2009 with 58K on it. The only reason why I sold a pretty much new vehicle for my BRZ was because of mileage. I was getting 8mpg in my truck and getting a BRZ saved me a ton of money with gas alone.

If it were me, I'd do both. Drive one of the two cars above into (or at least towards) the ground, and during that time pay yourself a car payment, plus any differential in cost in insurance, etc.

Then when

(value of the car owned) + (money saved) = (Price of Car you want)

you'll be good to go!

Plain and simple. If you have to ask... then you can't afford it.

So to paraphrase... keep on driving the toyota and save 30 grand. :p

No. Do not buy a BRZ.

Drive a car for all it's worth with no payments until you are in a position to live like Dave Ramsey :)

Pretty simple concept. If you make payments on the car, you're going to spend the money anyway, so if you can't afford to save it, you can't afford the car in the first place.

Might as well use this opportunity to set yourself up to never have a car payment again.

Keep driving the old cars. I had to sell my paid off GTI because it was falling apart due to bad design, now I'm back into financing. I rather be debt free to be honest. :D

I didn't get a car I loved until after I bought my first house. I didn't get the FRS until after i bought my second house. You clearly cannot afford a BRZ or any new car. Don't do it. Drive the Corolla. Everyone I've known who makes aggressive purchases has ended up regretting their decisions.
