Hey All,
Just to show we are testing the hiccup under cruising conditions at 5000 RPM's with the 70mm pulley, here is a picture. We just finished our tank of E85 today and filling up with 91 octane tomorrow morning. Pay no attention to the other gizmos in the picture. ![]() Cheers, William Knose Delicious Tuning |

So next it to burn through this tank of gas and then fill up with 91 octane again. This should give me a more pure 91 octane (10% ethanol) which I can hopefully reproduce the problem. Just an update to try and reproduce the problem. Some questions for those who have this missfire issue at 5k under light load, with the 70mm pulley and 91 octane. 1. Which intercooler are you using? FA20 or Innovate? 2. Which exhaust system is on the vehicle? 3. What octane rated fuel and brand fuel (Mobil, Shell, etc..) are you using? 4. Which intake is on the car? (Stock, Perrin, Airaid) Thanks, William Knose Delicious Tuning |

Also, mine didn't do it at the top of heading towards 93 - I could reproduce it effectively with around 1/2 to 1/3rd tank (that's when the logs I gave you were taken)

Let's not forget that horrendous stutter while cold around the 3k range with light throttle acceleration/no boost. I'm thinking that's just the bypass valve being retarded while cold but I could be wrong.

I will need to watch for this while I am on 91 octane. Once again didn't notice this on the 75mm pulley. But will see what it does now on the 70mm pulley.

When I switched to the 75mm pulley from the 70mm it certainly didn't do it nearly as bad, but it still did it.

Is it more noticeable in lower gears, say 1st or 2nd? |

1st gear not really, 2-6 is extremely noticeable if you're trying to accelerate without going into boost. I'm talking maximum fuel economy takeoffs. I really think it's due to the fact that while not boosting, the air is channeled through such a small hole, and when you give it just enough gas, or not enough, the vacuum/throttle controlled bypass valve kinda freaks out, causing the stuttering. It's only really severe while cold, but once normal operating temps have been reached it's waaaaay less pronounced. If you really wanna test it take the car for a highway ride and set the cruise at 75mph. Of your engine isn't totally warmed up it's gonna stutter like crazy IF you, say, climb a slight knoll such as an overpass. While the terrain is flat it's deliciously smooth, bit small hill climbs will trigger it, I think, due to the fact that it needs to boost based on the position of the throttle. Feather the throttle and you will see. Try not to go Into boost as long as you can and it will pop up.

Finally!
48 weeks of waiting. Two weeks of a couple hours here and there. And one marathon session today. Finally, it's together! ![]() And look! A left over part! ![]() In this case, it's a good thing. You know what's F***ING delicious after working for hours in the sun? Water. I hope I never get hit in the front left corner. There are so many freakin' hoses and lines there now. I still have one wire to run then it's just a matter of getting a hook-up from Delicious and I'm in business! |
