Does the Cobalt SS supercharged/turbocharged count?
If I recall correctly, the SS turbocharged is actually one of the few FWD vehicles that is quite quick around the Nürburgring. Owning one, I can agree that it was quick and the suspension was pretty good. Torque steer killed it though for me (typical for 'most' high powered FWD vehicles). |

Wow.
I understand that this is a forum based around a RWD car but that doesn't mean it is the ultimate setup. The Fail Wheel Drive, AWD is for slippery surfaces, etc. comments show how closed minded 90% of everyone is here. I live in Maine, right now my BRZ is all I have as I sold my FWD Impreza and will be buying a truck for winter. My impreza was much much faster and handled better then my BRZ during the winter. So by the RWD elitist's definition wasn't my impreza a sports car? And yes, between 93 and 95 Subaru did make a FWD Impreza.

The last car to win the 25 hours of Thunderhill was a FWD-converted Audi TT RS..

RWD was around for a long time before FWD. It is simpler to design a tranmission with a single output using a drive shaft going to a differential versus a compact engine/transmission design like used in most FWD designs. The only vehicle's I know of that are FWD and use a "conventional" transmission behind engine design are pre-1996 subaru's. These were basically AWD transmissions with no rear output.
