i'll make sure to try and say hi

I'm really curious to see your staggered setup in person.. I just finished a high speed autocross and a lowspeed autocross on 235 R1Rs and my tire temp readings are basically contradicting why your staggered setup wouldn't be giving you massive understeer.

If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to hook up my datalogger (AIM Solo DL, with the ECU support) to try and quantify whatever it is that your setup is doing.

i'll gladly post the results here for everyone to analyze... SCIENCE!

I have a 'speed dimple' in my BRZ as well. I assume if PDR cant fix it and people cringe when they see it, it is eligible to be called a speed dimple..elsewise its just a 'ding'

Works for me 7th gear, post the data here for people to learn from/laugh at my crackpot setup. Again, not sure if its right or not, but a slalom/transition course should be prefect for my car. Curious to see how your R1R setup works as well. I've considered your tires to run in Lincoln this year. Did you choose those tires because of the Canadian contingency benefits? (i probably would have)

contingency and also some good deals through my club and my club's sponsors

net cost for a set of fresh R1R's straight from factory ended up being like 700 bucks.

also decided to test 235's just because I've never driven with a fat tire on a skinny wheel.

I could probably benefit greatly from a FSB.. maybe with next paycheck

Updated the original post to show the current list of mods:

Here's a video review we did at work of the HKS Hi-Power Spec-L Exhaust:

I'll be running the FR-S at local club event on Sunday, after the Rallycross on Saturday, so more video/results coming.

Still very curious to see the results of this test. It could finally put the 'oversized tires aren't grippier' thing to bed

FWIW,
We once put rear tires on front and rear axles of a racing kart and it was pushing in all corners. (The wider tires in the front were not grippy at all, as they were probably not getting hot enough). But the tire pressures one is running at with a kart is also much lower (10 to 11 psi). (In relation to the weight of a car, a kart has already much wider tires to begin with.)

Another event, but not really a course worthy of making the tire swap quite yet..
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9PlUVuU_r0&list=UUZcLwIZD4WvPIyX40KOF8QA"]Corvette Club Mi 6/15/2014 Sean Grogan run 5 - YouTube[/ame]

Tighter elements into on the throttle sections weren't the best for my car...but again, dialing in some rear rebound, and taking out some in the front seems to make these courses/corners much more manageable. Increasing rear tire pressure seems to make the car more loose, but mostly on the exit, not mid corner/corner entry, and I've found I'm almost always slower like that. Shocks adjustments are working though. I edged out the same GTI that beat me the previous event, to take the overall index win...about 85 cars total. Toledo Pro is next weekend, but I didn't get in....but I plan to have some pretty good footage from Centralia though, which I think may actually have 2-3x the seat time, and a better site.

They are planning on 6 runs per competitor and a parade lap (or two) before the event start.

the bad news is that while updating some software I ended up wiping all the data in the logger... I'm soo fucking pissed.

but thank you still very much for being cooperative and coming out to chase cones with us Canadian folk. Definitely gave me a goal to shoot towards.

No worries, glad to have attended. That's disapointing news about the data, but oh well.

So here's the videos from Centralia, which featured a 90 second 1.4 MILE course, 80 MPH speeds, and mostly use of third gear...unlike anything I've ever done before. Great practice for high speed transitions, as the entire course was high speed slaloms and off set gates with a couple sweepers connecting it. I really liked the layout, clearly something different.

Ran the shocks 1 full turn from soft in the front, 3/4 of a turn from soft in the rear. 31.5 PSI all around, dialed in 1/8 rebound shock into the front for my final 2 runs. 5 runs total:

Run 3 best official time
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jilRiYubD7s"]Sean Grogan Centralia 2014 6/29/14 Afternoon first run - YouTube[/ame]
Run 4, best raw time with mystery cones
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcJD13rHpf4"]Sean Grogan Centralia 2014 Ontario Divisional Run 4 - YouTube[/ame]

Ended up winning the 25+ stock car indexed class by about half a second (on index) would have been about 2+ second victory if it wasn't for cones on my fourth run, which I could have sworn was clean.

Doing a time trial event in my road race car this Friday, then heading straight down to Peru Indiana for the Match tour this weekend. (who's going to Peru, and wants to go grab a few adult beverages at the Hip Hugger in Kokomo this weekend?)

Before the Match tour, I'll be getting a fresh oil change of the Joe Gibb's Driven FR20 oil (5w20), as well an HKS oil filter.

More updates coming after the Match Tour.

here is my run, 1 second behind you.

i'm surprised that on your fastest run you decided to downshift at the box at the end of the first straight, but stayed on 3rd through the last sweeper

also that tight J turn just before entering the 2nd runway, I think 2nd would have been better, no? (I did it in 3rd too but just too bogged down)

this was my 5th run and I dropped 2 seconds from the previous 4 by really going radical with the tire pressures (26 front and rear, yikes). I think I have a pretty good idea where I would have had to improve (most of it really has to do with trusting myself more), anyway
