Thanks Neutron ... will keep that in mind.
My main reason for not going with Phantom is that I will gladly pay a little more for a little more juice up top. And, I really do want a smarter Supercharger engagement setup rather than an on/off button by the pedal. My total (imaginary) so far is : Hobby Motor ~$200 Batteries ~ AGM ~$200 or LiFeSO4 ~$500 Seadoo Complressor ~$250 ~$300 Hobby ESC ~$250 Charger $200 Some form of Speedcontrol input $200 ( I plan or starting simple , may be just use the 5v from the TPS to feed the motor controller . Misc hardware and wiring $200 Total = $1500 to $1850 This should give a Superior systems (at least on paper) to the Phantom setup. If the Hobby motors delivers 35K rpm and SeaDoo delivers enough CFMs at that speed , I do not see any other gaping holes in this solution. |

Dont you think that even when not powered, the wheel will spin somewhat due to the engine airflow ... even at low rpm ... Anyhow, I guess we will find out.

Actually no, on the KDE motor the hold between the poles is very strong which is a good indication of just how powerful it is, but it will absolutely not be free wheeling when off. The airflow should still give it a little bit of a suck starting style boost though in getting it moving when the motor does turn on though.

More progress...
I got the rest of my intake parts for fitting the compressor in the BRZ. It's a close fit, but a good solid clean fit. I'm pretty happy with it. Next step will be bench testing the compressor. I think I'll have the rest of the parts for that tomorrow. Edit: I'm going to have to hack up my Grimmspeed pully cover if I want to keep using it. I'm a little disappointed by that but oh well. ![]() ![]() ![]()

SeaDoo First bench test
Okay so I couldn't resist, I had to do a quick test setup to see how my new compressor does. Spins up great, no cogging seems like it will move ton of air. I can't wait to start doing some real testing.
My reaction.... [ame]http://youtu.be/6AOceel95K8[/ame] And a quick video of the test (sound from my iPhone doesn't do it justice) [ame]http://youtu.be/luYAOVOXc7M[/ame]

That's coming but the cover is sealed with RVT gasket so I want to do any tweeting and testing with the cover off first before I seal it up.
I think it's going to be impressive though.

http://www.siliconeintakes.com Is a good source for intake parts. But eBay can be a lot cheaper for parts that are easily good enough quality for this. For the BRZ I used a 45 degree bending reducer 3" to 2.5" and a 2.75" x 2.75" x 1" 'T'. Both cut down to fit the lengths needed.

My finished battery/charger setup. Including a pic next to the BRZ stock battery for comparison.

Looks awesome Neutron, I am curious: can a motor like this be controlled in a variable & linear way fairly easily? As opposed to the Phantom on/off switch, can this be ramped up progressively - maybe based on throttle position sensor input?
Can't wait to see what kind of psi this compressor/motor combo outputs... |

I'm going to be taping into the throttle position sensor, and using the MAP sensor as feedback for closed loop control of the motor speeds. In addition a lot of the speed controllers have features like soft start and breaking modes which allows even better control.
