Maguirs ultimate paste wax

I clay barred the hood, roof, trunk, and front fenders of my car yesterday. I finished it off with meguirs ultimate paste wax since from my understanding it is fully polymer and a really good sealing/protecting wax. The results look really good. For a commercially available wax, I would say it is probably one of the best I have used.

I will update in a month with details on how it is holding up. I live in sunny southwest Florida with the sun and rain. I daily my car working sales, so i out the mileage on.

We are doing a full write up for our blog about this so novice detailers better understand what's really going on in this situation.

I must STRESS. You should never clay a car unless you are going to paint correct!
I would love for you to point out to me where I damaged the paint...The car looks AMAZING and I cannot find any swirl marks, scuffs, scratches, etc....I am going to guess that you are going to say that unless i buy your product my paint is going to chip away...

You're a basket case.

Clay bar will pick up surface contaminants and drag them across the paint as you are swiping the bar of clay across your paint. That induces scratches and swirls.

Your washing procedure may also strip the top coat of wax/protection from your paint, causing whatever scratches and swirls that were beneath that layer of protection to show up again.

You apply a layer of wax or sealant that fills these scratches up, hiding these imperfections until the next time you decide to wash your car.

The correct way to do it is, as @Stay Fresh Car Care says, to wash, clay bar, polish, seal, then wax. There are a few more intermediary steps, but that's the gist of it.

Like the others have said, you have marred and created microscopic damage to the paint and then filled in the damage. As soon as the wax starts falling out of the tiny scratches, more and more imperfections will start showing. Meg's UPW is'nt a bad product for what it does, but I'd rather have my products actually let me see the damage that is on my paint so that I am able to fix it. Stay Fresh actually makes amazing products that are true to what they are with very competetive prices. I have brought back a super neglected car back from the grave using their products. You can find my review thread or I can send you the link if you'd like to see the results.
